I installed my new Pertronix Flame Thrower distributor with the Ignitor III and it has a bad hesitation off idle. I am thinking that it is caused by low voltage??? When the car is at idle it is showing very low voltage on the gauge and as soon as I get the rpms up the voltage goes up. It has the original voltage regulator from the points ignition with the ballast resistor. I have this newer regulator but I am not sure how to hook it up. I tried to just disconnect it and hook up the old wires to the newer one but it wouldn't run.

the wiring is quite a bit different for the newer regulator and you also need the alt that has the two field connectors instead of just one field and i believe not positive you also need the 4 post ballast resistor with that style regulator

There is an electronic regulator that is a direct replacement for the old mechanical one. Search the threads and you'll find where I've posted it several times.

I already am running the newer style alternator. I haven't had time to work on it. I think I have the wiring figured out now.

Here is one that I used to replace the regulator in my 69 RoadRunner. Worked great but one word of warning, some of these state that they are "Race Only". I hooked mine up and two weeks later my ingition coil overheated and literally blew up. Bad coil or what, I'm not sure.

Any advice on the "Race only" 69Runner???
