Just picked up 440 bare block. I find no VIN stamping on pad. Block is dated 2-18-69. How do you tell if it is a warranty block or not?

Because warrenty block were usually full of holes from a large sledge hammer. At least that was the case when we replaced all the 1970 6Pk blocks that threw the rods due to way to tight pistons. I used to work for Melrose Motors (Chrysler,Plymouth) dealer and Cooper Motors. We were told never let a warrented block to leave the shop. Old block out, full of holes. Warrenty new block into the car, period!
