Water wetters! Snake oil or what?

When I built the 383 in my wifes Road Runner years ago, I built it a little on the tight side. Got the car up and running during the month of May when it is staring to warm up around here. Car would run a little warm on her driver home from work. I used a product by a company called BG, and the stuff worked. It lowered her temps 10-15 degrees, which really helped out when it hit June and she had to start using the A/C. I left the stuff in there for a couple of years and then flushed the cooling system. Went back to a 50/50 mix and been fine ever since. In my situation it worked as intended, I would say if you are having an actual over heating issue, it is not going to help with that.
 
Yes, stock systems should and do work properly as designed, but compression, timing can be gremlins that overtake a system.
In my system, I run pure distilled water because of its higher boiling points, but add a wetter for lubing and supposed heat control insurance. In the winter months, I simply add Anti-freeze to the mixture to keep things from freezing solid.
Same here. Just had a hot weekend at the track and was not excited about the temp gauge unwilling to drop between rounds..
Then Doh! , forgot to dump the winter crap and get some fresh water+ wetter...
It's not about " drop coolant temps by 15" or whatever... but more the rate of temp drop
 
They work for me,
I use Royal Purple, Purple Ice religiously now...

When it was stock & has a brass/copper 22" rad. with the OE mech. fan
(edited; with a 180* thermostat) it got over 200*+ to 220* many times up here
down in the valley it wasn't as bad

I don't run a thermostat & I run a 5/8" restrictor/washer
helps keeps the fluid in the rad. a tad longer
I tried several diff. temp. rated thermostat
no matter which it got hot *** hell, with a mech. pump & fan (even stock crap)
my motor isn't stock, the stock crap doesn't do well

I also have a 3 core 22" alum. MRE custom rad. custom shroud inside
I use a 35gpm electric water pump & 2 electric fans, all thru relays
(both have alum. blades, both move air extremely/really well)
1) 16" 3500cfm does the job, very well
have a 2nd) 13" fan as a pusher a 1600cfm just in case,
I get stuck in traffic & I've never even needed it yet
hot *** Cailf. low humidity, never gets over 185* even running hard
up or down the mountain
even in 105*+ heat here

Not for everyone
Any 1 thing doesn't work for everyone
don't knock it if you haven't ever used or even tried them...
if your **** is stock, fine use the OE stock stuff...

Yeah, the stock car racing guys use distilled water because of its ability to sustain it self under seemingly endless grueling conditions. Painting the blocks black also helped in extracting inner heat out into the elements. Voodoo stuff
