So I havent been on here in awhile because of school and work and being a 17 year old kid with an old car is a challenge but I am back and to show some pictures of my finished Satellite sebring plus. Its is still a 2 barrel but I am wondering what I could do to upgrade power? Any ideas? Thanks for looking and have a blessed day :headbang:

its a bit tough to really get a big jump in power with a 2 bbl. but you can do some small tuning things to get the most out of it. if you have a well curved distributer you can bump up the timming a bit. try about 12-15 degrees initial you want about 34 to 35 total mechanical advance, it will make it a bit sharper but you wont be able to do that with a stock distributer. and make sure it has a good tune up plugs cap rotor. the new parts store cap and rotors are junk you need to get a cap with the brass terminals if you can find one they run and last longer. if you want more you will want dual exhaust a bit of cam and for sure a 4 barrell also some more gear and a converter would be nice to, but all that stuff costs some money. hope you get it sorted and have fun!

Im my opinion?
Keep it STOCK!
Who cares if the guy beside you has a faster car?
So, you make your faster and now you "beat his"
Then, someone else has a fast Honda Civic.
Again you "improve" your car, beat his and the cycle repeats.
BUT...and this is a big "BUT"...
How many people in the world can say they have a totally stock AND Gorgeous Plymouth Satellite like you have?
Many can tell you they did this to their car, headers, 4 BBL Edelbrock carb, and on and on.
Keep it original and stock.
Just my opinion.
"super-bee_ski"
...yeah, it's got a Hemi in it...

Exactly, you can never be the fastest, but on the other hand it's nice to be able to smoke the tires on demand. :3gears: :headbang: Looks nice the way it is.

I'm with sublimegtx. The Police Interceptor club I belong to had t-shirts made up that borrowed part of the Special Boat Service (SBS) motto of 'Not by strength, but by guile" and read "Not by speed, but by guile". We used that motto because we didn't need a lot of HP to go faster than most cars. People would see an Interceptor and just slow down. :)

There are a lot of cars the 360 in my Road Runner doesn't have the moxie to beat, but it does have enough power to light up the tires and look like it's got enough power to take everyone down. I like some over-enthusiastic ricer get discouraged and fall in behind me after coming out of a light when I had just enough power to put on a good show. :)

Great looking car though!

If people are wondering the paint on the car is all original and the top is to, the interior is mint for a 39 year old car and the engine bay is still nasty looking but it runs fine. All I have really done was pull the motor and replace all the gaskets on it and before I got the car 2 years ago it had sat for 25 years. But I shall take a few of the engine and inside to show you guys later. Ohhhh and I painted the headlight covers and grill after seeing a blue roadrunner on here with that painted, I liked it xD

The more power thing is a never ending story, been there and done that with a few cars. My GTX has plenty of power and it's bone stock, having said that 90% of my driving is pretty much normal driving (318 2 barrel would do it) other 10% is a different story though.
You have a great looking car there, do what you want to it but most of all enjoy it. BTW I bought my GTX when I was 18 back in 1979.
Post those pics when you get a chance.

I wish I had the insight to do what you are doing when I was 17. My first car was a '59 chevy convertible I bought for $500.00. I made it look how I wanted with a limited budget. I wish I had it now (sorry guys, my first love)!! Make it how you like it with the money you can afford. A four barrell would be my first upgrade, in my opinion. Have fun with it.

I didn't notice the grill and lights all where painted and its a change that looks good on it makes you wonder why it wasnt offered. Great looking Sat I would keep it stock if its that original.

Nice car, I know how you feel I bought my satellite in 2010 I was 18 at the time.
Anyways, If you want power then go that route at the end of the day you can return it to stock pretty easily. I would find a nice cam/intake/carb/header combo that works. But as others have stated the speed itch is never ending. I bought mine with the intention of pulling the 318 for a nice running low 12's high 11's in the quarter car while making it looking good. 2 years later before I even got my engine built I decided I wanted to go faster and now should be in the 10's... Its never ending... I'm sure it will be an 8-9 sec car one day...
Anyways good luck It's nice seeing other young guys on here.

Yeah I agree with the guys. Stock.. I was around ur age(19) when I got my coronet. 383 auto. But I wasn't satisfied with not being king ****, so I pulled the motor with no money and no direction. Got my girlfriend pregnant and there it sat for the next.. well it's still sitting 13 years later.. Enjoy it as is. If you want a big powerful engine, save save save and by or build one while u continue to enjoy ur car..

p.s. I think raised white letter tires would make it look tough instead of the white walls. JMO..

Nice looking SSP. Glad to see another one in South Carolina. I have a 72 SSP and we're located in the Upstate. Not too many of us SSP owners in the area. In fact, I haven't seen another SSP at any of the shows that I go to.

Keep it stock. If you decide to change anything on the car make sure to keep all the parts that you remove. Sell nothing.... just in case you ever want to return the car back to original.

I am also in the upstate, and I have seen 2 a brown 73 and a yellow 71 rr clone. But I have an older pictures of the car when I first got it, and some of the engine and inside.165581_122186771182439_100001733514878_117330_5948461_n.jpg167277_130819826985800_100001733514878_164724_1561527_n.jpg167717_129279107139872_100001733514878_157308_5075185_n.jpg

Wow, the keep it stock crowd has had their say! listen, do what you want i like em stock and i like pro street i like solo cars too you can make that into anything you want. it is not a hemi cuda convertible it is a 318 satty. a few hop up items that can be removed at anytime will not hurt it or you at all! heck i have had people tell me that my car is not ''correct'' my response to them is it is my car to do with as i please. the most important thing is to keep it fun if you do you will stay in this hobby for a long time.

Thanks for all the tips guys and the compliments but as of recently like since last week when the car warms up it just doesn't want to run like it isn't getting any fuel and when you take the gas cap off it does go woosh any ideas to help me out?

For an easy upgrade of the small block 318 put headers on. Not cheap but you'll easily add 20 to 25 hp to the engine plus get the benefit of a nice sound. For a little more work. Upgrade the top side of the engine. Switch out the 318 heads with 360 heads, have someone do a little grinding to them to help with the flow, switch out the stock intake with a performer intake maniford and add a 4 barrell to it. You'll feel the difference but you'll looking at 600 to 700 dollars.

As far as the problem check the distributor cap for a crack for starters.

Car looks good. Nice to see a young gun enjoying the old plymouths.

Well guys I think I have figured it out. I have found out my parents put 87 gas in it without me knowing and thats one of the main reasons its running like crap but I think the gas is getting to hot so I am going to wrap the header on the passenger side, put heat tape around all my gas lines, and craft a heat shield for the carb and fuel pump( I am still running a mech one even though its new) and after that is all done I think I should be good to go. If my heat shields work I will post pics of them so others can make them as well.

Awesome engine bay pic. Its nice to see what mine used to look like. Im trying to decide if I should keep the a/c parts in there or take them out.my RR1.jpg
