In the late 80’s I a lady in her late 20’s came to us for help. She had a fused hip, cannot remember the reason. I had to make footwear modifications on both shoes so she could swing through with her gait.
I asked her if she had seen any surgeons about further surgery. She hadn’t but would check on it. Later on she was in and told me the surgeon thought it was too risky. I suggested that maybe she could go to Rochester and get another opinion. At another appointment her family doctor had sent X-rays to them. I didn’t see her for months, until my wife and I were at the exhibition. She and her husband were with another couple. I hadn’t seen her, but all of a sudden there she was in front of me and hugging me. Didn’t know what to do really except hug her. Doctor’s at Rochester told her that the surgery could have been done here. After the hug she explained to her husband and friends and my wife who I was and that I had encouraged her to go for another opinion. She did come in for some slight shoe modifications after.
I strongly agree that you search out all possibilities.
