Went To My Kidney Doctor Today…… Not Good News.

Hi Everybody,

Its been along time since I updated this post. I’ve been on kidney dialysis since October of last year, and I’ve had my ups and downs with it. Some days I’m super tired and come home to take a nap, but most of the days I’m ok. As some of you may know about dialysis is, I go to the clinic 3 times a week for 3 and a half hours. I go on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and I have to be there for 11AM EST then I normally get out around 3PM. I’m on Medicare now too, and boy here I am thinkin that I wouldn’t be on that till I’m 65. What a pain it was to get on it too though, there was a lot of callin this person only to refer me to that person then to that person. Good news is, I don’t believe I ever have to go through it again. At least for another 3 years after a transplant. Anyways the main reason of this post is because, I have a little bit of a story and some good news from it too. Back about 2 to 3 months ago, my uncle put up a facebook post on a living donor kidney transplant search page for me because I’m not on any social media junk (obviously besides here.) I would say at least a week later, a lady from Wisconsin responded to it saying she really wanted to help me out and donate to me…. but she had to loose 30 pounds first. It took at least a couple more months for her to loose the weight and to get all her required testing done, only to find out she was not compatible with me. I don’t know why because my transplant team didn’t tell me, but all they said was that she wasn’t compatible when they called to tell me. So anyway, now the good news comes into play. So yesterday I went to see a couple new transplant team people for 2 hours. It was to tell me more about living donors, and because my original donor from Wisconsin got me what they call a voucher to move me up higher and give me more of a priority on the living donor list. The team talked about the voucher and what I had to do to get on the list, and they told me that with this voucher and considering my blood type…. Its possible I could get a kidney within 3 to 6 MONTHS! When they told me that, I couldn’t believe it. I thought for sure they would say at least another year. Surprisingly though, my age does NOT have much to do with getting it so soon. I’m so happy…., and beyond it actually. My original Wisconsin donor was a blessing in disguise. Anyways, this is mainly all the big news I have for now. Sorry if I wrote too much, but I just wanted to let everyone know thats hopefully still followin this post whats goin on. Anyway, I hope to have another update in a few months. Maybe by September!

Great news sir! Thoughts and prayers are with you!

Best of luck to you!! My wife tried virtually everything to find a donor, including putting up a sign in our front yard pleading for a kidney donor. Well, it worked! A neighbor knocked on our front door and told Paulette that he wanted to give her a kidney! After many trips back and forth to Houston Methodist, testing and prep, she got a life saving kidney on April 30, 2019.

Don't ever give up. By the way, my wife's donor was 84 years old. Her story An 84-year-old man becomes oldest living kidney donor in the United States at Houston Methodist Hospital - TMC News

Your story is really compelling my friend. I admire your courage and what yo exude - Hope and fortitude. I have an old friend, a gal that I knew her whole family - incredibly dysfunctional family. However I think when she was about 40ish she became compelled to donate a kidney to a complete stranger. She saved his life much as someone soon will save yours.

You don’t say much about your spiritual beliefs - and I’m no preacher. But The Lord is watching over you and what you’re going thru. It would seem he’s about to reward your steadfastness - Have faith, talk to him. He’s there and he cares.

God Bless and God Speed…..

That is a real blessing, thanks for sharing your story, it shows that there are still some amazing people in this world despite what you hear and read.
