What’s a phrase that your parents used years ago

My mom would always say.
"Don't leave the refrigerator door open forever"

Among other things that come out of her mouth, as a vicious, verbally abusive parent, when i was growing up, in a dysfunctional family upbringing.

As a pre-teen, When I was being a “skoootch,” my mom would always say “I’ll crown you, Charlie”

I’d retort with “then I’d be king” and run away.

In a related story, my name is NOT Charlie.

In my 20’s I worked for an older guy. When I’d F up, he’d say “ I buy you books, I send you to school, and you still chew the erasers off the pencils”

My dad always said when someone asked how he was doing or feeling:
"If I was any better I'd be twins "
"Happy as if I had my right mind"

If he had some bad fitting underwear :
"These shorts are like a cheap hotel, no ball room"

Mom used to say " when you get married I hope you have two kids just like you"
