What’s a phrase that your parents used years ago

My grandfather: "I might be too old to cut the mustard, but I can still lick the jar"

My mother was the best women in the world. She could always find a kind word for even the biggest weenie. She always said, If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. I'd smile at her and just shake my head. I miss her very much......

You can break an anvil with a Q tip (sometimes it was cotton ball) He would then say but you can weld it back together.
Hunting reference, you couldn’t hit your *** with a chair.

"What made you think you could pull off a stunt like that?"

My uncle also used to say-

"Hop to it".

I hated that phrase and every time he used it I made sure to move more slowly than usual.

Apparently that was popular in the late 50's-early 60's, as I was watching a Godzilla movie (not the first one but maybe the second or third) and that phrase was used as the Japanese army troops were deploying to their positions while Godzilla approached.

I had an uncle who was my godfather. It seemed like whenever I asked him a question, the answer was always “pig knows.”

Dad "Hotter than a 2 peckered Billy Goat"

We used to have a "special" wooden paddle hanging on a doorknob with peace signs and flowers drawn on it with the words "Love Power". It broke at least once and glued back together by the time my brother turned 16. I was about 8.

My mom would always ask my dad if he was busy and could he help her do something:

"Busier than a set of jumper cables at a Puerto Rican picnic"
