What about a classic car renting business?

If it was just a bunch of the millions of
Chevelles, Camaros & Mustangs, Galaxies etc.
closer to the dime a dozen cars, more easily replaced
& find cheap parts at almost any parts stores
them a solid maybe (?)
boring old Olds 98's, Caddy's or a nice old Buick cruiser, maybe too

something with automatics

not any really rare cars, or real 'hi-perf' cars
(if you did make them extremely pricey, strict guidelines & ages etc.)

small block cars or just big ol' luxury types of 50's 60's 70's cars

& a huge retainer
& insurance voucher would be a must
maybe even a qualifier like bank statements etc.

cover your own *** of course

& like someone else mentioned
many couldn't even start some of these old cars

I'd bet there's a niche'

I wouldn't do it, but there's a will there's a way

The worst is when the bride has to be sprawled all over the hood.
Apart from a blue forum post, do you mean like this;

You got the idea. I will try and find the disc with the other photos. The one in particular was for Jonah Lomu's sister-in-law.
I did get a snap with Jonah, and my buddy Brett (second time we were used as a 'purple theme team') :D

I can't think of their name right now but, there is a business near Hollywood, CA that specializes in renting cars of all types to the movie production companies. I'm sure their not losing money doing it. They even build cars to suit the studies needs.

Picture Car Warehouse , reason I know they use to or still owns a green 66 Hemi Satellite convertible. Car was owned by Charlie Sheen and Reggie Jackson. Tried to auction the car at BJ Scottsdale 5 or so years ago, $99k no sale. Saw it on ebay 6months later $135k.
Think its been done the rental of classic cars. Read about a Chrysler letter series car that Karen Carpenter owned was available.

The issues raised with this business idea are similar to what I saw when I was a part time instructor at a tractor trailer driving school in 1983. Operating costs were astronomical, liability insurance being number one. Second was maintenance. A fleet of about 10 units kept a four bay shop busy on two shifts, seven days a week. Number one problem was transmissions being torn up, shop kept a couple on the floor at all times for swaps. We ran hardly any weight in the trailers or it would have been worse.

Pell grants in that era paid for most students' tuition. They could never have handled the costs out of pocket. A decade later the grant money dried up and the school folded. Those that are still in existence have some source of public funding or loans. Inexperienced people trying to operate powerful equipment is expensive, no way around it.

Over the decades having rented I don't know how many vehicles for work and vacations, it's been a PIA process on more than a few occasions getting sorry excuses for the car I had reserved that 'oh sorry car isn't available', coupons that (go figure) "don't apply to what I'm looking for" and other BS. An old boss of mine and I on a biz trip we conjoined to take a couple days vacation to golf before coming back home, got the major run around on his preferred rental card, being a frequent user. After some 10 minutes of bullshit, he politely asked the agent "Do you have a scissors handy?" Agent replied "Umm yes, think so, I'll go in back and get you one". He comes back with the scissors and my boss thanks him...then uses the scissors to cut up his card into several pieces saying "It's evident I won't need this card anymore, so you dispose of this one." I saved my laughter for later over a beer with him. One of those things that the more I thought on it the funnier it was; but that stunt got him some attention and a great deal on another vehicle!

When vacationing in Costa Rica a couple times to visit our daughter there while she was in the Peace Corp, wow the rental agencies there had some pieces of **** pretty much take it or leave it! Well the roads there are horrible and on our 2nd trip there, knowing this how shitty they were, the vehicle they brought me was real **** with near bald tires. To get where our kid was - was over 200 miles through the jungle and rut-rock unpaved roads for endless miles. I had to refuse and then had to wait near three hours for them to being another that was 'better' but not all that much. The rear end went kaput on it; but lucky we were at our destination for several days and they came and replaced it...just with another not quite as bad POS.
Anyway back on point, if ya trash a rental or even a little itty bit, can be a beeitch! Gotta go thru it real careful like with a fine-tooth comb as often I'd find some damage...even light scratches or dings I made SURE they noted before I accepted.
