Just bought a 67 Belvedere with a 440 in it. It has an edelbrock carb and edelbrock rpm intake.

The car has a cheap chome air cleaner with a drop base that drops too much and causes it to hit the electric choke on the eddy so the P.O stacked about 4 air cleaner gaskets to make it clear.

What air cleaner set ups are out there that you guys are running?

Here's a pic of the new toy

#1221 Edelbrock air cleaner will clear, inexpensive, not the best made or fanciest, but it will work. Nice looking sleeper by the way.

I'm running a 440 with a rpm intake and holley 750 in my 66 bel. I'm using a repro unsilenced breather I got from Mancini. I couldn't use a drop base breather because of the trans linkage and coil. I went down to my local auto parts store and looked thru a air filter book until I found the shortest filter that was the correct diameter. The breather barely fits but it looks great. I can get you the filter # if you need it.

I have a super commando pin plate and the lid for an un-silenced air cleaner but no base plate.

Was worried about it sucking too much hot air.

I have a K&N filter lid in my parts stash too. The current drop base isn;t a factory part just a cheap unknown parts store one.

With the Eddy 1221 what size of K&N filter element do you run?

I've got a Holley 750, not an Eddy, but the K&N was the slimmest filter I could find for it. The hold-down nut barely keeps from dinging the hood. But it clears.

air cleaner

heres whats on my 66 Belvy II.. im not exacyly what it is originally from...but the car did not come with a 440. i had an eddy carb, but put a Holley on it which sits alot higher and i have no hitting issues

The edelbrock rpm intake sets up a lot higher than the intake you have.
