I finally worked through my pulley and belt issues and thought...it's all good from here. Install these motor mounts and install the engine, trans and K-Frame in the car.

Now the center bolt that is part of the engine mount is hitting the block. I have an old set of mounts with a shorter bolt and another old set of mounts with the longer bolt. The new mounts I just bought have the longer. Am I missing something our are there different mounts for different 440 blocks. The older looking mount has the short bolt and newer one has the longer bolt.

Someone, please help before I jump off the bridge right before Christmas.

Ummmm, if I remember correctly, that bolt is supposed to go down into the K frame, not towards the block

My 72 mounts have the single bolt that holds the mount to the K Frame and the 3 bolt holes are part of the bracket that bolts to the mount.

Your pictured mounts, have a long bolt that goes thru the K-frame and holes in the mount. The stud goes thru the engine brkt. If the studs are in the same location and clear the block....I gotta believe either mount would work. You can always shorten the stud. The pad appears thicker[optical illusion?] on the newer mount, also. That would raise the engine a bit.

I had to grind some length off the studs on the new ones I recently put in my '71 Challenger 383.

Those are the same mounts my car uses and I had to cut the studs as well. Just idiotic Chinese companies that know nothing about our cars!
Just to clear it up the stud does bolt to the motor bracket which is tight to the motor.

Been down this road before. First time was one of those WTH moments. Most of the guys at the auto parts know me well enough to not give me crap made in China if at all possible lol

My new ones are from Year One which is about a mile from my shop

It appears that the longer bolt version fits my 1972 block better than the 1977 block ?

Hmm, my NAPA mounts had the short bolt
The nearest Napa store is a little over 6 miles from me while there's O'Reilly's and China Zone within a mile but I'll either call or just go down there when the others can't get me what I want.

On the block itself all big block mounting ears are exactly the same regardless of year.

Mystery solved, I left DynaTech a message and they called me right back. I'll give them a gold star for responsiveness and customer service. They say that the bolt length was changed by Crysler to the longer one several years ago and they only get a couple of calls like mine per year. They said I could either grind down the bolt about 1/4 inch or send it to them and they would replace them with ones with the shorter bolts. I did say that I was surprised that they only see it a couple of times per year and he agreed but said some might just grind them down and never question the fact they were longer.

So I guess I'm not crazy, I have a bench grinder and hopefully I can complete this part of my project this evening.

If it's a Chinese mount, beware if you got any kind of torque, I'd recommend a chain just in case
