What car would you drive completely roached out?

One of my first cars is as exactly as you described... 69 camaro, rust and bondo everywhere. Carpet was trashed, the hole for the 4 speed looked like it was cut with an axe. It was pretty raggedy but I paid for it with my own money... $700 IIRC.
It was a piece that I could not afford to do anything with as a teenager...

Yes! Finally! My car is 'in fashion'!! Mine isn't as ratty as some of the ones pictured on that link though...But hey there's a reason I call it the "Ratellite"! The body/paint is on that 'someday' wish list for sure. Gonna take a healthy haul of scrap wire to get that done...Fun to drive and drive 'em everywhere!

Back in the late 80s/early 90s my buddy had a 68 GTX that was a complete riot to drive. We referred to it as the "Beater GTX" and I would love to own it today. It's the one in the back (both are 440/4 speed/Dana 60 cars).

I really dig the "Rat Muscle" trend.

Not everyone can sip wine and eat caviar on the hood of their pristine Barrett Jackson purchase. Some people enjoy the build up. Having a trailer queen is fine but having a car you aren't afraid to sling donuts in is what its all about. Some people are in it for the status. Like collecting animal heads on the wall of your hunting Chalet. < same people who never wrench their own rides and have AAA come and pick it up.

We took the maiden voyage in Tommy's '64 Fury 'vert this past weekend. Put 60 miles on the 440/4-speed/3.91 gears. No top yet, and the interior is as you describe...no carpet, and a red bench seat out of the race car because the original has a broken frame. It is a blast, though not legal yet. I have tags and insurance, but it did not pass PA inspection due to no turn signals (need to replace the switch), and no parking brake (new kit from Inline Tube purchased). Tommy turned 16 last week. We've been working on this car for 14 years. I know it doesn't show, but the engine compartment is painted, new suspension front and rear, under carriage scraped and undercoated, disc brakes up front...

I suppose it depends on your definition of roached out. I suspect it's a sliding scale. I'm sure some people think mine is roached out. I was at a small private car show on Saturday - about 35 local cars. One of the Ford guys had seen my car earlier and thought it was just an old beat up Satellite parked off in the corner until someone told him what it was. Then he practically ran over to it and asked me to show it to him. He really dug the car. I later took him for a ride he won't soon forget.

I drove the hell out of my first car 74 charger 318 payed 1500 and it showed tail lights were hels in with wires , the rear bumper was rotted away as was the deck lid and Dutchman panal huge dents everywhere rust everywhere ,but I didn't car I was 16 I bought the car with my own money I fixed it my self and little by little I made it better I drove that rusty turd for years and I preferred driving it over my nicer cars it just felt right .

Here's my secret and reason for starting this thread. We just bought a beater, It's not a Mopar but I think it was a good car for the money we spent. I'll try to get some good pics and post them in a thread tomorrow.
