I have a set of "HP" exhaust manifolds and wonder what gasket to use, copper or Mr Gasket white paper crap or something else? Can I ruin the manifols if the gasket is to soft and thick?

You don't use gaskets on the exhaust manifolds.

Correct, but put a straight edge on them as some that may have been warped from an overheated engine. If so, they can be trued up at a machine shop.

I never had any luck resealing one without a gasket - unless it was cut flat. If you need to get this together and can't or don't want to visit a machine shop, there are gaskets specifically for exhaust manifolds that should be available at the parts store. They will have a perforated looking stainless sheet attached to a gray asbestos type material. The steel side goes toward the manifold.

OK, thanks, the gasket with the steel side was the one I removed, better get some new ones, witch, wich, whitch (a hard word to spell...) one comes in the felpro gasket kit?

A felpro headset should come with steel core laminate crush-type gaskets, like these. They've worked fine for me.

If you insist on using gaskets,I would reccomend using a special gasket that has a heat sheild so not to burn up the valve cover andd cook the valve cover gasket.
Common problem with thee HP logs since they go up to the top of the valve cover.

Richard Ehrenberg of Mopar Action fame sells them...

WOW! That's cool! Pardon the pun. I had no idea these were available. Great suggestion.

go to www.remflex.com , they are the only gaskets i will ever use again

best thing even and no more tic tic tic flange and manifold to head the best

Another great suggestion. Would be nice to incorporate a heat shield for the valve cover gaskets though.
