Currently has a 402 on it which got dented, what pan is correct for this? I wanted to confirm that the correct number pan was on it before I search for a replacement.

Believe your '71 should have the unmarked 6 qut pan used on '70 & '71 6 pac and Hemi. PN 2951564, repos from several sources.

I've fixed worse looking ones.....if it has baffles, it makes it harder to do but ones that looks like yours shouldn't be too bad.

My friend who runs the storage facility had jacked the car up while helping me show the car to a potential buyer last week and the jack slipped off the skid plate and did that damage.
He called me today to say when he took it off it had a bit of corrosion inside, and it did have baffles, and he thought replacing it would be the best way to go.
I think he said it is a 402 in which case it's not even the right pan for the car. So I think I'll order up a correct one and the car will be better than it was before the mishap.

Make sure he checks the pickup for damage as well. Since they are supposed to "touch" the pan bottom, they can become bent, possibly cracking the tube. Also, if the screen is damaged, it's possible it may pick up debris large enough to lock up an oil pump.

If you go with the SI’d pack pan you need a different pickup for it also. The 402 will not go to the bottom.
