What is the most frustrating thing about your car?

For me the frustration is that my 67 charger has almost no interior parts reproduced. In the last 5 years mine has started to deteriorate and get small cracks in never remade parts. I am also hopeing I am never rearended my perfect tail light lenses cost more than a average camaro is actualy worth.

The most frustrating thing so far as working on my Mopars has been getting the rear quarter windows on the 68 convert. to seal to the front windows and the ragtop. The adjustments are a pain in the *** to get to and finding replacement rollers, regulators, and hardware is a problem. Making matters worse was the fact the previous owner, GM guy, basically unbolted everything that would unbolt inside the panels and then stripped the regulator cranks trying to get the regulators out to replace the rollers. Right now I have got the windows were they go up and down, with parts from a doner, but have to stop about an inch short of completely down or they won't roll up next time. Still collecting parts for a total rebuild next time I feel up to the challenge. All that aside, I would still rather have to hunt down parts for my Mopars then drive a Brand X car.

OK, I'll add another one after what I did this evening....

installing/removing the master cylinder while lying with your head on the brake pedal, and one of your fingers trying to touch a nut that you either can't see or can't touch (or both), and trying to get a "medium" depth socket on it (if you can find one) becaue a deep well is too long and a standard is too short, and trying to figure which combination of 3 inch, 6 inch 12 inch extensions and where to place the u joint adaptor and/or wobly extension in order to actually be able to turn the nut enough to get to the next ratchet pawl...remember all while lying twisted on the floor with stuff falling into your face/eyes.

Now THAT'S entertainment.

Interestingly, it's not THAT much easier if the dash is completely out.

Been there,,,done that on my 70 runner.....wouldnt it be easier if they would have just turned the bolts around so the nuts are in the engine compartment?.....LMAO!

The price of aftermarket K-frame and front suspension when compared to Fox body Mustangs.

Similar in design yet THOUSANDS more in price!

Yes, I know, there where a ton of Fox's built and volume = less $$ but still..

I'm with you Dodge 330, why is all the Mopar stuff, so much more money for the same type parts VS Dorf &/or Govt. Motors especially when it takes nearly the same amount of labor & materials to produce an equal part... It's just freaken price gouging... The, "they didn't make as many of them argument", doesn't fly really, I know they made millions more of the Mustangs in general, Fox body Ford's & GM's like Camaro's, Nova's, Chevelle's, Impala's, tri 5's etc., but it's just parts, supply & demand, I think anyway... The Mopar parts community & private sellers, is/are some what getting one over on everyone, all the time & has for decades now, if you want it, you will need to pay the price or build your own, the stuff just isn't worth the price of gold, I've dealt with & built many brand & makes of cars over the years, I love them all, but my 1st love was always Mopar & you could build 2-3 Fox Bodies for every 1- B-Body Mopar or build 2-3 Camaro's/Nova's for the cost of 1 Charger/Roadrunner... The Mopar's parts suppliers & private sellers, seem to be the worst in that area, the my $--t is worth more than your $--t mentality or someone wants top dollar for their rusty old parts, but won't pay $--t for the parts they need to buy, go figure... It's been that way, for as long as I can remember, at least back to the mid 70's anyway.... Rant over see ya, Latter....

Finding a qualified person to put a windshield in is the single most frustrating thing I have done to this car. Bringing is back to numbers matching would be easier

I can't believe that I forgot to mention the master cylinder!
I've had 4 master cylinders in the car in the last 2 weeks, trying to get things to feel right. That dang upper right hand nut is a total CUSS fest! I ended up cutting down a deep well 1/2" socket and using a u joint with 2 10" extensions. The oddball working angles often put my sightline outside of my reading glasses so I alternated between fuzzy vision and total clarity. My eyes can't see around steering columns yet either, so add THAT to the mix......

That I have had to pull the motor, tear it down, and re-build it due to an engine builder mucking things up in the rotating end of a 383. Just freakin" SUCKS!!!!!

frustrations......

I'm curious about what you find the most frustrating about working on our cars.

I think the most frustration comes from having to rely on someone else to do the jobs that I am not equipped to do. Seems the job never gets done in a timely manner with only marginal quality.
I don't do enough work or have the room to invest in a lot of metal fabrication equipment and painting equipment.
I never try to "lowball" or get a cost commitment but I do try to instill a reasonable time frame to do the job....it seems like it still takes forever
.

I am curious as to what percentage of profit goes to Mopar for an aftermarket product licensed through Mopar.....this adds to the cost.

Oil leaks, especially at the valve covers. Tried every style of gasket, every variation of torque - still get some leaking....

The best luck that I've had against valve cover leaks is using the black fibrous gaskets and aluminum valve covers.

I ordered edelbrock heads and hooker super comp headers from summit...I told the guy what they were goimg on....Then on the passenger side two spark plugs were amost hitting the tubes on the header..Well the redneck in me said pound a little and make it fit...Called summit and they said you should of ordered the 2 inch and not the 1 7/8...Bastards!!!!So It,s headers for me...

I hate payin someone to do a job(bodywork). Then months down the road you noticed they halfass did the job.Just made it look good for the time being.Thats why when I need anything at all, I buy the books & tools needed & do it myself. If I do screw it up Il fix it rite & learn something along the way.Maybe Im just hard to please. There are 3 other things that agitates me about al the Mopars iv owned
1) Electrical
2) Electrical
3) The darn wiring system
------All in that order------

Yeah but the 2" hit the shock tower on one side and the power steering unit on the other lol at least on mine only TTI will fix it just the design I guess but hey can get to my plugs well all but 2 which are a bitch but with the right socket no problem.

I will trade you all electrical for body work any day :) I suck at that stuff, I couldn't even tell you if it was wrong or not. But electrical, cake let me know I will drive out to bama so we can work on our rides :)

The best luck that I've had against valve cover leaks is using the black fibrous gaskets and aluminum valve covers.

I've tried them all with this set up. Cork, cork/rubber, rubber, neoprene with steel and most recently the thin black fiber stuff that Indy carries. These are Indy heads and some fabricated aluminum valve covers (flat bottom). I think a big part of the problem is the thin lip on the Indy heads. The flat bottom on these valve covers doesn't help either as nothing contains the gaskets. I'm about ready to replace the covers with something that has the rolled lip on the bottom to contain the gasket - OEM style.. :angry1:

VALVE COVER AND OIL PAN LEAKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

im on my third round of valve cover gaskets, and shortly i will be doing my oil pan for the fourth time!

arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!!!!
