What is this part for? is in a 2300 middle carb of a six barrel setup

Here in the pics is a part from the 4670 middle carb. what is it? Do you need it?
I have all docs for the carbs and can't find any info on the part.

it is a fuel slosh baffle. not super critical but it keeps the fuel from sloshing out the vent
