For those with high horsepower, what transmission do you use and who built it? I am in the market for a built transmission to handle a lot. Car is driven on the street mostly. I currently run a Pro Trans 904 reverse manual body.

what is high horsepower 500 or 1000 ? either way pro-trans could do it...if you don't mind waiting 6 months... Lol

I'm talking 1,000 HP or better. I am hoping to dyno my new build so I will have a better idea then.

For 1000 hp going through a 904 the only call I would make is to Dave Smith at Pro Trans. They do most of the Super Stock hemi stuff which is 904 internals in a 727 case.. and they do comp eliminator stuff too in their Proflite transmissions. Chevy bellhousing 904 internals. That's alot of hp for a 904 but Pro Trans can make it work.

The 904 in the car now is a Pro Trans, it was in the car when I bought it. Maybe they can give me some ideas on which way to go. I agree, Longroof, from what I know this is a lot for a 904. I wouldn't mind going for a later model either w/ overdrive but I bought a Hurst pistol grip quarter stick last year and really like it.
