What oil pan do I need

1973 Plymouth satellite was 6 banger 3 speed, changed k frame, putting 400 n 727 in 2nd oil pan will not fit sump on this 1 is back 5 inches

Look for a pan that is stamped #971.

I used a 187 oil pan on the 440 in a 71 satellite. Fit well no issues.

This is the 971 OSDart speaks of... They are close in the design.

My 78 dodge magnum with factory 400 big block has a 971 oil pan. Hope this helps with your decision .

I'm not sure the #187 pan will work on the '73 up "B" body. Seems like I ran into this problem a few years back. The sump on the #971 is approximately 2" further back which clears the "K" frame.
Maybe some of our '71 up "B" body afficiandos will chime in?

I believe you are correct on the 971 pan to be the pan to use.

Will do 1st 1 I tried was a 933, then went with aftermarket that was 2” further back still need 3”

The 71 has different motor mounts I think 73 is the 1st year for the mounts I have

This pan is similar to the 971 for the exception of the area where the centerlink crosses under it. Check the measurements I've posted in my add. It's a 5" deep sump.

They didn't change the location just the type.. I would still say the 187 pan has almost identical dimensions as the 971.
