What was your high school mascot? This threw me for a loop

Huskies, and I just realized the pc crowd hasn't gone after Colonel Sanders yet.

I grew up in Southern California. I went to Savanna HS in Anahiem and our mascot was Johnny Rebel, a confederate soldier. In 2015, the school district voted to remove his statue and two cannons in the school center. In November they voted to remove the mascot altogether. Too many soft politically correct nutjobs integrated into the school systems trying to ruin this nation's heritage. I have no ties to south or the confederacy and never once did I ever assume that somehow our mascot was offensive except for when our teams beat the snot out of neighboring schools. Just seems like a slap in the face to the alumni.

Ours was the Huskies also. You didn't go to St Anthony Village by chance did you? I think you're from MN. I grew up in St Anthony- family still owns the homestead there.

I went to a Summer camp and the groups in the cabins had names themed after blue collar jobs.
The wood workers. (Carpenters)
The water works. (Plumbers)
The Sparklers. (Electricians)
The Pole Climbers. (Telephone service men)
We called the Pole Climbers the Pole Smokers.
The Camp counselors were not pleased.

Yes, similar. But I have to say that KFC doesn't even come close to my Mama's southern fried chicken. Sorry Colonel!
Yea, I cannot stand KFC myself. As for fast food chicken I personally like Bojangles' but nothing beats home made fried chicken.

I went to Ceylon, a little town of about 450 people on the Iowa border....great times.

Redskins!

Needless to say after a century of being called the Redskinsn, a bunch of pc douchbags made them change their mascot in '03
Should have saw what else was coming down the pipe

Our mascot for the Redskins was the Big Chief. The Year Books some years had a pot bellied Indian.

Multiculturalism forces the majority to obey the loud minority and change our traditions even when relatively few are offended. In my high school's case, real Indians were not offended by the Chief mascot. In fact, they felt honored. It was the liberal whites that were offended for the Indians who forced the change on us.

Maybe next time we have a teacher walk out (aka strike) for higher wages someone will bring up the cost of changing all the signs, jerseys, etc.

Perhaps some irony for me with this post. I was not a MOPAR guy going into high school, but was afterward. My high school still brandishes this mascot.

It has been a looonnnngggg time since I was there.
