The thing to me about a project car is what's the body work going to cost? Rust free but body/paint is costly. Can you do body/paint or a friend that will treat you well.

good to hear, a lot of it looked useable. maybe a little beat up but nothing crazy. i texted him this morning asking to see if the motor was free. that may be the deal breaker for me. we will seeIf the engine turns freely or better yet can be started and run, I would say not crazy at all. The trim, if in decent shape and useable or at least restorable helps a lot for me. My 67 and 66 Plymouths have tons of dollars in restored trim and some replacement trim.
i just graduated with an auto collision and refinishing degree, and just finished up my 68 torino gt i redid myself, candy apple red, 4 speed, 351c. honestly id probably just ride this 66 with the body it has now for a while though. immediately id redo the interior and put the exterior back together and get it running 100% again. although white interior im sure is not budget friendly.The thing to me about a project car is what's the body going to cost? My first car was $250 in 1964. It only had 23K miles.Whatever 250-300 is worth today from 1975.....but I actually bought running cars in the mid 70's for 200 bucks.
definitely some truth in that. thank youNobody can tell you "what it's worth"- there are no blue book values for these cars. It's worth whatever you and the seller agree on. If you like projects and think a 383 4-speed Coronet is cool, there you go- think of a number you're comfortable with and stick to it.
No matter what you pay, there will always be someone to tell you how they bought one for less.
most trim and grille stuff is in the trunk, needs carpet, headliner, rear interior panels, maybe some other little stuff, needs a radiator. those are the big things i noticed missing while i was there.Cool car and a good project. I think value will really depend on what is missing. In the photos I don't see a lot of trim pieces and other bits that would add a lot of cost to doing this car.

$4K or less car in in SoCal.
if it was auto out here, it would be a $2K car with a hard sell. probably parts car.
forgot to mention the trunk is full of trim pieces, including the grille. my plans with it would be to redo the interior and get it driving good. i wouldn't even touch the body would i be crazy for paying 5-6k for it?

that's kinda my thought process on it. it's a super solid car and i would've happily pay more for a car that is a good foundation to start on. i'm just not so familiar with this era of b bodies and trim levels and what they go for. i got my 74 dart for 4k about 4 years ago and it was completely stock at the time running and driving with good paint and complete interior. but obviously that was a less desirable A body. i just don't know if 5k is a good deal or overpaying for it. there's not many other cars for sale to base it off of. the last thing id want to do is buy it for his ask, put 5k into it just to make it a good driver and then it only end up being a 6k car in the end.obviously it's local to you, another huge plus.......show me another comparable, solid, B body project anywhere for that money........

I bought this one for $8500, with a fresh 383, new TCI 727, rebuilt 8 3/4 with 3.73 gears, new springs and shocks. Then I spent the next 8 months refreshing the body, interior and dash, restoring the AC, adding the scoop, and various other items. View attachment 1839048
It took 2 1/2 years to break even on my investment. It's the only one that I ever bought with the intent to resell. When I buy cars that I want, I don't worry about what projected value is. I make them mine.

less vaulable than a 73-74 charger in your opinion? those cars are still a dime a dozen where i'm at.1966 Coronet's are the least valuable segment of two-door B-body 62-74. 62-63 dodge hardtop maybe tied with them.
