What's it Worth What would you pay for this 66 coronet 440?

how'd it look when you bought it? 8500 seems like a great deal

less vaulable than a 73-74 charger in your opinion? those cars are still a dime a dozen where i'm at.

Yes for sure. You can add a bulge hood, chrome tips, some cool factory stripes, etc to those 73-74 Chargers to add street appeal to them.

IMHO, those car are headed upwards faster than the 66 Coronet. They don't look all that different than a 71 Charger. Sorta like in the early 90's when we thought 72-74 E-bodies were worthless.

That said, the added 67 WO/RO scoop to Jerry Hall's 66 sure added some pop to that car.

i agree on the motor stuff, but i've known this guy for years and he deals with cars for a living. he's got about 200 mopars out at his place, this being one of them. if the motors not locked up i'd believe it did run not so long ago. also i forgot to mention that the trunk is full of parts, including the grille, a lot of trim, and some other things. he says he wants 8k for it and there's no chance i'd pay that. maybe 5-6k depending on what other parts he would throw in because he did mention doing that. i just wanted to see if i was crazy thinking paying that 5-6k might be worth it or not

For $8K it will sit there with his other yard art until he passes away.

you'll have to leave me out in the "we" part. i'm only 20 so i wasn't even conceived when you guys were looking past those E bodies lol. i'll have to talk to the guy and see where he could be at on the price. i like the car a lot but don't want to dig myself into a hole i can't get out of. and i agree the scoop definitely changed the look of that car.

1966 Coronet's are the least valuable segment of two-door B-body 62-74. 62-63 dodge hardtop maybe tied with them.

You know what's funny bout that, other than 62-65 b-bodies, coronets are the only ones i like.. i would rather have a coronet than a superbee or roadrunner or any of those..

Works out great for you. Less costly. The 62-67 crowd is a specific taste of cars. Mostly toward the MaxWedge and Hemi clone 62-65 stuff.

So, if you want the car, just decide exactly how much you're willing to pay, and the consequences if the seller accepts. See my post #13. If seller declines, walk away and call it a day. Been in your shoes many, many decades ago. And you'd be surprised how that exact tactic works, as long as you're willing to walk away without adding another penny. It's a win-win situation, you either get the car, or go home knowing you didn't pay any more than you wanted.

he shot down my 5k offer, said he paid 6k for it. looks like i'm back to the drawing board ha. in your sense, im not mad sitting on 7k cash until the right car comes around.

If you really like it I might match the $6k as it sounds complete, you can paint it yourself and it's a BB 4 speed, let him sweat it for a week first though.

So you had to paint it?

Was it running driving for $8500 with all that fresh mechanical stuff. Complete together car when you bought it?
Yes, but far from great. Nothing on the dash worked, speedometer was broken, AC was incomplete, total interior was shot, kickdown on transmission wasn't there, and radiator leaked. I put about 22K into it parts and labor that I couldn't do myself. I broke even with no return on my labor, and I consider myself lucky.

yeah it is a nice car, 67 gtx has always been a dream car of mine. this car reminds me of the red head sister of the 67. i'll maybe throw him another offer after my next paycheck. i wonder if a guy would break even willingly

Pretty much the same thing plus elbow grease. FOR SALE - 1966 Coronet 383 4-speed 17k
Cand you find cars easily that are better and cheaper? Sounds like an old man's memories.
just saw this car actually after i threw the guy an offer. both cars seem same condition body wise besides the misscolored fender. interior work and getting it running good is fun work to me. hmmm...

"Call me if you want my $5k cash offer. Thank you." is the reply. You're ahead both ways. Good for you.

I wouldn’t call the seller. Let him stew for a month or more and see what happens.

The seller paid $6,000 for it. Wow. Big block, 4 speed fever hit him hard.
