What's the one car youd sell your house to own?

Who says ya can't have BOTH ?

No car I want enough to sell my house. I had my Satellite when I got married and we didn't have much more than a pot to piss in. 3 years later we moved into our house. Got married to accumulate stuff not sell. Had a little tough, went on strike 2 weeks before first mortgage payment. Got another job 10 weeks later that paid $6 an hour more.

I've had my cake and eaten it too. There was always one Mopar I wanted more than any other, regardless of cost, after a test drive in 1970. I finally got it, after a five decade chase, and I still have the house. I wouldn't swap either for a Hemi Daytona.

I wouldn't actually do it but it's fun to think about. When you see an expensive car at auction you think, well I could have afforded it if I sold my house. I suppose it's feasible if you knew you could double your money in a year guaranteed.

I would not sell my house for anything. In my previous life, I spent too much time and energy, building houses that were too big, cost too much, and created work. Mostly for someone else. None had long term success. In my seventies, I built a house for me, no one else’s ideas, or plans. A sensible house, one that I can lock the doors, and take off in the boat or camper van.
First practice trip this weekend in the camper van.

I started buying cars after my house was paid off so I guess I'm doing it wrong. I could probably sell my cars and buy my dream car but that's not my style. I've limited myself to one wife, but like to spread the love around in the automotive world.

Nope: Since I was 14 my life goal was to own a 70 HemiCuda 4 speed and a 69 Hemi Daytona 4 speed. I achieved the HemiCuda and it was a disappointment, never made the Daytona and I'm over it now.

I gave up too but the back up plan is I told my wife when I pack it in, scrape all the insurance money together and buy a green / white stripe Daytona. Then she can be happy for the both of us

( it might have to be a bit of a piece of junk)

When I test drove my GTX back in 1970, the car initially offered for the ride was a '70 Hemi Cuda with a four speed. I knew the other car was cooler to most folks, but I always liked that GTX better. Saved me significant bucks by being a bit of a freak in that department.

OK, none I'd really sell my house for - where would I keep it if I did that??? :realcrazy: :p

My pinnacle car I always wanted was a 70 Road Runner with an air grabber hood scoop. I got one 13 years ago, restored it and I still love it. I will never sell that car. Here is mine, that most of you have seen many times:

There is one other car that I really want. But like @68BabyBlue it is one particular car - no other. It is my father-in-law's 1963 split window Corvette. He and my mother-in-law drove it on vacations and enjoyed it a lot, and I'd love to still have it in the family. He sold it a number of years ago, and the likelihood of me getting that car back is unfortunately low. His car was red on red, with a 340 HP 327, close ratio 4 speed and 4.11 rear. It also had power windows, which was a rare option in 1963. It looked like this:

If I had the ability to try and purchase it, I wouldn't sell my house for it, but I would stretch quite a bit to acquire it. There is something about family heirlooms that make these machines much more than a car.

Hawk, as you and I have discussed in person, a back story can really change the picture. The thread posted a few years ago by @RRDon really made an impression on me, when he offered to pay $100K for his former 383 Road Runner, if it could be located. I was prepared to pay that much for my car, for the same reasons, but I really got lucky, and didn't have to. The even better part of the Demonstrator's story, is it looks like it will ultimately end up with the Clark family, after skipping a generation.

Had a guy look at my Satellite in 1980 and asked you want to trade for my 70 Hemi Cuda, no sh*t. Didn't know how to tell if it was real, guy was a little sketchy so I passed.

Doesn't have to be a Mopar.

GT40.
Ive sold many a car to buy a house.

But there isnt a car out there I would do the opposite

Now,
Is there a car out there I would love to own thats worth more than my house ? Yes, MUCH MUCH more !
