What's with women that runs the gas tank down to the last drop!???

If you never let the needle go down to E, how would you know how far you can go according to the gauge. If you put 21.5 gallons in a 21.1 gallon tank, your gauge is pretty darn close if it’s showing empty.
That was an entire seinfeld episode, one of the funniest ever.

Wife always tags me when she knows it is low. “Need a little milk from the market, just take my car.” 20 minutes and $40 later, she has her gallon of milk.

" She swears the light gets brighter when it's real low "
Also the owners manual says 34 miles once the light comes on ..... but it took 45 minutes to go 11 miles.

The old Datsuns had a second gauge built into the first one that broke down the last quarter tank into finer increments. My ex drove her car down to fumes!

Or they don't like the smell of gasoline on their clothes or hand/s...

I heard it both ways
She keeps 'work' gloves in the truck....my first wife loved the smell of gas. Something was wrong with that one lol

LOL! She did say that the computer said the vehicle could go another 17 miles but it never gets what the computer says.
Sounds like the honeymoon is over!
Naw....

Many moons ago my truck had dual tanks but switching over to the aux would also show the level of fuel in it on the single gauge.

If she cooks your dinner, washes your clothes and does the dishes.....I would let that slide.

I put fuel in my wife's car all the time when she tells me it's low. Mainly because I know That I will get a receipt and I know it will be the right fuel. I also go a few extra miles and save a lot of money doing so.....most people just cruise into the first gas station they see and fill 'er up.

We have wildly different prices on the same gas from the same bulk tanks at different stations.....so saving up to 20 or even 30 cents per litre (Quart for you people who measure in Washing Machines) makes a difference. Especially so because I also fill my spare bottles with diesel and premium. :) Self-serve stations here are a lot cheaper than 'full serve' - that just means there is a jockey at the register inside....they don't come running out to check tyre pressures like in the '50's.
Saving twenty cents a liter is like seventy-five cents a gallon. DEFINATELY worth a trip a little out of the way..... to fill a 55 gallon tank (ot two 35s)
Last fill-up of my pickup (diesel), I incorporated a gas stop as part of another errand, and paid $3.19 instead of $3.42 (or more) at my local stations. Times 40 gallons.

Forgot to tell wife don't fill the gas tank. No worries she said "ya I thought about but you can fill it tomorrow". She fills the tank if it's half full, it was at a half full. Put the old gas I removed from my Satellite it the Toyo car. Now to get some fresh gas.

My dad never let my mom's gas tank get below 1/2. It just was something men took care of back in the day.

This has been an
ongoing issue at our house.

Last week I pumped 14.9 in a 15 gallon tank. My bride just finished a 90 mile round trip.

I ran out of gas twice in one night, when I was in high school.
Ran out , walked to the nearest station with my gas can, bought 25 cents worth, fired it up, drove to the station, put in another buck (only had two!).
40 miles later, out again. Good thing there was a gas station on every corner in so cal in those days.

And this is why I need to fix the sending unit on my wife's 67 Fury wagon. We take it out for a ride and she says she just filled it up a couple days ago. then BAM! it runs out of gas. It seems that a couple of days ago equals about a weeks driving.

getting back to the original dilemma, its really simple human co habitation. She is pushing to see how much she can get out of it. the same as you do, now it comes down to who is in control, you, her, mutual its all up to you, or is it. :asskiss::bananadance:

Stupidity!
Be nice.

My take, I assume we are talking EFI here. That being said, most systems being return style, the pump is pumping at max flow fu;; time, and what, flow is 110%? of what max HP demands, assuming a single speed pump that is a lot of fuel, that is relatively cool, if engine is running, it is pump[ng fuel thru the pump, and that should be all the cooling it needs. If the pumps needed a 1/4 tank of fuel to keep cool, the OEM would have directed the return fuel directly onto the pump. or something similar or made the PU so it could never draw more than a 1/4 tank, and relabel the fuel gauge.
I personally rate this as an old wife's tale, right up with never charge a battery sitting on concrete.

Me personally, I ALWAYS run to the bottom, I can't stand carrying around a 1/4 of a tank of useless weight/gas.
I have had among others, three Tacoma's, ran all to the bottom of the tank. My last one, I had to replace the in tank fuel pump once.
It has 560,000 miles on it.
