Which scenario is going to be the best choice?

1. Numbers matching 383 4 speed, green with green interior. I don't like the colors and would change them when I restore it.

2. Non number matching 383 4 speed with original interior and exterior colors I like.

All else being the same, which car is going to be worth more in the end? Original colors or matching numbers?

Does it hurt the value of the numbers matching car if i paint it a year correct color, but not original to the car.

Value is going to be in the quaity of the build plus the extras.

If you are after the highest value you will need a origional numbers matching car, factory colors and options along with a build sheet and fender tag to back it all up.

If you are missing any of these then I would say to just have fun with what you got and do what you want doing the highest level of work you can afford. If you are looking to buy something and build what you want then go for the non matching car. You can use that to hagle with the seller and maybe get it for a little less.

A lot of people today see more value in resto mod cars that look period correct on the outside but are all modern under the skin.

Mine was no where origional so I had a ton of fun and built the car my way. You will never get back out what you put in except in the fun of driving it and showing it off.

If you want to hit the lotto with a car sale then you will need the right car that is numbers matching in a good color combo and a lot of desirable options. A crystal ball might help too.

what do you mean i need a crystal ball too. jeez it just never ends to keep up with the jones's.

meeps is on the button with starting with the right car. its hard to do and costs a lot to make a silk purse from a pigs ear.

I'm not really looking at trying to make a fortune just wondering how much if any it decreases the value of a numbers matching 69 bee 383 4 spd if i don't paint it the original color? It would be a factory 69 color though. Probably never sell the car anyway.

JMVHO: keep the # match car the correct color....it will grow on you..
really!!
I have an ugly biege pickup (got the best deal, long story)and learned to like it...
$ ..do the right thing.:eusa_think:

BTW I Know Sonny likes green a lot!

If you would change the colors of an original matching numbers car, why in the world are you worried about the worth?

if you are never gonna sell it then build what you want.i build all my cars the way i like em and still manage to get good money for them.it normally comes down to quality of the build unless it is a rare car.super rare, keep it #'s matching.fairly common car, build what you will be happy with.

why is it always about the frickin MONEY and VALUE ????

get the car you want you want ! build it the way you want ! are you planning on selling it off ?

if its a car you WANT to keep and ENJOY why do you give 2 shits what its worth?
