Where do you find Amber high beam lights?

I painted mine, here is the end result

thanks.. i did forget 1 thing.. i spayed some clearcoat over them after they dried.. dont want bugs to chip the paint .. still way cheaper than buying a new set

You only need to buy a two to three prong harness conversion. They sell them on EBay for roughly $10. The harness is approximately several inches long with the proper 3 or 2 prong connector. It simply plugs into your old harness.

@chucklbunny sorry I'm late to the party. I have 2 originals that I would part with. 4412A 12 volt 2 prong 5 3/4 diameter new never used. I'm in Framingham, so depending On where in Lickmyassachusetts you are, you could stop by or I can ship them to you. $25 per bulb plus shipping if needed. I'll post a for sale ad if there is any interest.

Thanks for the reply !...let me think about it a bit...I kinda overplayed my hand and spent a bit too much on the car lately and vacation is coming up and I need to have some cash for it.....if you could give me a week or so to figure it out I will message you if that's ok .....

I had been wanting to do this on my '61 Pioneer for quite some time, not actually knowing whether I'd like the look or not.

I do like the look on this car, though I'm not sure I'd like how it would look on my '63 330 with the canted headlights.

I got a set of EiKO 4412A bulbs from AutoZone. I replaced my stock 2-prong connectors with fork connectors, and I was ready to go. The only minor issue is that the bulb's stay tabs are in the wrong location, but I was able to line the bulbs up just fine to have them set straight.

IMHO, glass spray is a ghetto-*** way to go about this considering that the parts are readily available and relatively inexpensive.

I don’t like them at all. But that’s just me. I do hear guys saying it was a thing in the 70’s and 80’s. I don’t remember it. Seems like a thing since 2013.
 
I used my regular clear lights and spray painted them with krylon amber stained glass spray paint, severely light coast to get the color I wanted, lasted over 10 years no problems, I think hobby lobby still carries it

I don't remember it in the '70's or the '80's, either. Perhaps it was more a regional phenomenon? I'm from the Rust Belt, and it seems if this were a thing back in the day, it very well could have missed where I was at, and instead be a West Coast thing?

Since I have just installed them on my Pioneer, I'm curious about the origin...is it 1958, 1976, 2013, or somewhere in between?

Me neither. Maybe on some German cars, but I really don't remember them being a thing. Not being a d_ck here, but what exactly were they supposed to do better than regular high beams?
 
Not tipical but neither hard to see those on cars in Venezuela back in the days.

I don't think they're supposed to do anything better except give a different look. Mine light up dark roads just fine. Not better, but fine, and I personally like the looks of it. Nice thing about this mod is that if I ever change my mind, I'm 10 minutes and zero money invested into going back.

Amber is used for fog lights. Mounted low. @Slantsixdan the expert. Hope he weighs in.

Last I heard, Dan said he's getting out of the classic car game, but to what level tht is remains to be seen, I suppose. I do appreciate his expertise when it comes to Slants.

That said, I don't think we need an "expert" to tell us that by replacing one's high-beams with amber lights, one is basically deleting the high-beams and adding fog lights in their place, for better or for worse.

Am I missing something, thus over-simplifying this?
