Which is stronger

I agree with what most folks have said.... Dana 60 & you're done, no worries. I also dimly recall the Mopar Action article on the 9 1/4 and thought it required a lot of screwing around, but I'm not sure. The
8 3/4 is fine with the right reinforcement, but if you've got torque & traction you're likely to replace R&P fairly often. Dana's will last forever with good axles.

Stock axels with handle over 1000 ft lbs of torque.

In the early 80's we ran a Dana 60 in a 10.70 car using the stock axles launching the stick car at 6k! The only reason why you can't go that fast on them is because the tracks won't let you. I also thought it was kinda funny that they had MW cast on the ends iirc. Who made them?

Ran a back braced 35 spline spooled 8 3/4 for 10 years in my 67 Belvedere. 3750 lbs with a best of 9.88@ 135.
Broke a ring gear ONCE on a center section that I purchased and wasn't set up by me.
Ability to change center sections and less weight were what kept me from changing.
Car is gone now and my new Coronet has a 9 inch Ford...still no Dana.
