Who all have used AMD panels? Not happy

I have purchased 2quarters for 69 road runner & some other parts & very unsatisfied with fit & shape on them,I had some cheap half quarters on it before that fitment sucked so I removed them because everyone saying AMD was soo nice,well I know Ill have to do some work to get any of them to fit but sure seems like im not much better than with the cheapo ones I had..they have so many dings & waves from stamping the whole quarter will have to be wiped with filler,the indention at front of quarter where the body curves outward,well this one has a crease line there that will have to have filler to smooth it out,they are too big to send back,price of shipping..I have already thrown boxes away etc.. Id say different ones will fit the same..Is this soething that everyone just lives with as a better than nothing option? Yes they are better than nothing but far from what Id call nice,might as well spend less & go with goodmark panels would be my opinion

I bought a trunk floor extension for my Dart, and they were perfect. However, I have never purchased a Quarter panel. Do they come wit a Guarantee?

For the `66 & `67 Belvedere IIs & Satellites there are NO full quarters available...so, yes, I'd say live with them...what ever they go on. At least they are made.

I had issues with front fenders but the quarters i had worked but weren't prefect. In dealing with them i did have to ask for a manager to get the fender issues resolved. They then refunded my payment and let me keep the fender. Just an FYI.

You're correct, the sun does not in fact shine out of AMD's @$$ like they claim on tv haha. However I will say from what I've seen they're about the closest you can get other than a good original panel. Being around Muscle Car Alley's restorations of the past few '69 Roadrunners, I've seen every full quarter needing adjustment, specifically at the rear window corner and matching up to the quarter extension around the tail lights. And they all take a skim of filler to eliminate waves.

I think CDR and Hunt2elk have some fun stories about how much work the second gen Charger full quarters needed, too.

I havent even gotten into around window corners yet,I have read about a few on here,dread that,Im now thinking I should have kept my half quarters,they fit terrible around tail lights for sure but what gets me is the tooling marks in them,I thought they looked pretty straight until I got them sitting on the car,now it looks like a hail storm on the sides..better than nothing,Yes...far from what Id call good though,like I said if anyone reading this,keep your half quarters or replace as lil as you have to,I havent called AMD,dont want to put up with the hassle,I know the answer will be theyve never had that problem so..Ill deal with it

No quarter just falls on you have to massage them a bit
I use self taping screws to hold it on while I work it around, you'll get it. there's not much better then AMD

I went with AMD rear quarters on my 68 b-body, after considering the other reported junk on the market. They were on and off the car using self taping screws several times, before my body man got the outer wheel wells and quarters fitted up nicely. You can be out a 1/4 inch or more (forward or backwards) when doing this fit-up. I would recommend, you bolt on your trunk lid and quarter extensions, prior to welding up your new quarters, just to make sure that everything is going to line up correctly when done. This was not done in my case - and my tail panel trim on the trunk lid is now slightly beyond my rear PS tail lamp housing, as a result of not test fitting all of the related body parts that depend upon the correct placement of your quarters. FYI. Once welded up... mine needed spot filler and repeated blocking, prior to paint. I am thinking, this is pretty much to be expected, if you want straight panels, no matter what you buy. I hope this info is of some help and good luck with yours.

I understand how to move the quarters around,I think they fit ok..my main concern is the tailight fitment looks terrible,gonna need alot of hammering & filler to look decent & the body looks like alot of dings in it but looks like its die marks maybe,anyway gonna have to wipe whole panels,the panels I removed before was cheap shermans & was really similar quality,didnt think id have to wipe the whole quarters with filler,I could call AMD but I can already hear the response,just didnt want to go through all this for the money I spent on the new quarters

Oldtimer...looks nice,I hope my tail light panel fits like yours,the contour on mine is so far off,just gonna take some work,I cant tell in your pic if the whole quater is filler or primer,mine has alot of die marks I guess,looks like dings when looking down the side,didnt notice them in the box but on the car they are def not straight,looks like a light hail storm

The only suggestion i will give you is check fitment n measurements where required before you disassemble anything, n you will get a good idea of what is involed. nothing is perfect n you will allways have modifitcations to do but bang for the buck these panels are pretty good.As i put the full quarters on the 69 charger the same issues are similiar on all bbodies with the lower rear section where the end caps go on n on the front of the rocker panel at the bottom of car,the passenger side quarter i had off n on over 50 times before i was satisfied with the fit .

It sounds like the full quarters for the second gen Chargers are pretty decent. We used the skins and would never go that route again.

Wow, I just have a hard time reading all this bitching about AMD panel fit and finish, etc. All panels need massaging to get into place, nothing fits like OEM stuff. A trim here and there, weld here and there to fix the trim that you did here and there and they fit. I wonder just how decent are the skillsets of most people out there, and, if they're delusional thinking it's easy. If you don't know how to weld, man, been saying this many times over the years!

Out of the box, the AMD quarters looked smooth and straight to me. Excellent quality I thought. Once welded up, a little filler was needed here and there to make things perfectly straight prior to paint. This is normally the case, no matter what you buy. What you see mostly in the one pic, are the remains of interim primer coats, during a series of increasingly intrinsic blocking jobs, obviously requiring more work along the top horizontal welded edge of the quarters, than was the case else where. The rear contour of my AMD quarters, didn't match my quarter panel extensions (tail light panels) all that great, as I recall, and yes, my original extensions had to be modified slightly, to match the new quarters. The new extension seals, I bought in good faith, didn't work worth a sh@#... The pin locations and angles were all wrong, so I ended up having to make my own, laying down a thin black, tacky on one side foam weather strip, far enough inside the body line, that when fully compressed after bolting up your quarter extensions, the resulting paper thin clean line of the compressed foam seal is visible, as it should be, but remains fully within the top horizontal and vertical side contours, requiring no trimming if done correctly. This method cleanly and effectively seals any minor variations in depth, you might have between the these two body parts - more so, than do the lousy fitting, plastic seals, I could find on the market. Minor adjustments, using this alternate sealing method, can easily be repeated, if required, to ensure that perfect look and fit. FYI. No matter what you decide to do... have fun with it and good luck

Well Donny,im sure no one is as good as you but if youd read my ad the main thing Im bitching about is they claim to be so nice yet,my old sherman panels were just as good,I have lil dings(tooling marks,I guess) all down the side of them,will have to wipe the whole quarter with filler not just areas,I dont have them welded up yet but fitment isnt too bad so far,back tail light area sucks,Yes I know how to weld,bodywork,paint even sandblast but not sure I wouldnt have been just as good with goodmark panels,AMD just hasnt impressed me..the trunk & floor pans fit ok but again they dont need to be lazer straight

I thought they worked pretty good. I used the screws too on a 68 charger, the massaging took a while, sprung the quarters into shape, and lined up nearly perfect, used pin punches to walk the metal in on offset drilled holes, a jack, couple of 2x4's and alot of beer.
