who has installed a Borgeson ps box?

manual steering in a 68 charger just plain sucked, yes it turns when your moving but, being 51 and planning on keeping this car for a while, and a worn out shoulder, and not having a numbers matching RT car, why not? there is a pin that runs across the bottom of the shaft, that will need to be removed anyways, i believe I cut a little less than 2" off the end. Then when coupler was put on you need to drill two holes through the shaft to lock it in to the coupler. shaft is soft and drills easily. I believe the reason for cutting is to keep it in the range for the collapsable column which the steering column was engineered to do in case of a front end crash. good luck!

One problem I have is with the u-joint vibration reducing coupler (Yes, all borgeson u-joint style couplers are vibration reducing) there is a nylon bushing between the two halves of the coupler and that means no ground to the steering shaft for the horn!!!!! The guys at borgeson told me they are aware of the issue and said that I needed to solder a jumper wire between the shaft side of the coupling (over the joint) and solder the other end to the rivet hat holds the sleeve in place on the other side. I wish I would have known this before I installed it cause now it's just a royal pain in the *** to remove the steering column. So for now, no horn for me!!

If your manual shaft is collapsible, there really shouldn't be a problem collapsing it to the length needed (correct me if I'm wrong). I don't remember when they switched. Like already mentioned a PS shaft should be easy to find for your application as well if the former isn't in the cards.

I had to cut the shaft on my 64 which is solid. Have the bergman coupler. Between the coupler and the ability to move the column in or out it doesn't have to be that exact, just close. There's a bit of angle, like Andyf said, but it doesn't seem to be an issue at all. Also I have the QA1 K.
no problem with the horn using the BERGMAN COUPLER?

So I installed the Borgenson ps box and it was very easy to do. Pulled from top and installed from top. Thanks to all that helped me. Anyone could do it if they take their time. Hardest thing was cutting and drilling the shaft. Drove it around the block and thank God no more manual steering.Took about 4 days because s carolinas heat and I have a carport. And yes the horn works.

Seems good to me ,will take it out this weekend for a cruise.I just drove around the block to see how it felt and look for leaks. Feels like 105 today so Im hanging in the house.Smokin hot here in S Carolina

This is probably one the best upgrades you can do to your ride, right next to 4 wheel power disk brakes. You'll really enjoy driving now, more so....
