That's for sure. However, looks and reality are different. With a drag coefficient of .0217, only the P-51D and P-63A Kingcobra were more streamlined. And no fighter was able to dive as well as the P-47, with a built in limit of mach .83 (560 mph.) in a dive. At that speed the plane still had balance and control. A built in speed limiter in the Curtiss Electric prop prevented it from gaining any more speed.And it looks as aerodynamic as a brick.
