The crash sequence of a U.S. Army Air Force Douglas A-20G-25 Havoc (s/n 43-9432) during an attack on Kokas, Papua New Guinea, on 22 July 1944. Twelve A-20s from the 387th Bombardment Squadron, 312th Bombardment Group attacked the Japanese barge depot and seaplane station at Kokas. 43-9432 (tail code “V”) was part of the last flight over the target.

Dawn Aerospace, in New Zealand, has sent their small scale Mark II Aurora prototype supersonic transport on a world record flight.

On Nov. 12th this year, their aircraft went supersonic and at the same time broke the world record for climbing, reaching 66,000 feet in just under two minutes, topping out at 82,500 feet (25,150 meters). It's the first time a New Zealand designed and built aircraft has exceeded mach 1.

The goal for the rocket powered craft is to reach mach 3.5 and operate at 62 miles up (100 kilometers) to do research studies.

This was because the aircraft required sufficient airflow to cool the large and powerful Napier Sabre engine.

Yes, but what airframe is that? It doesn't look like a Firebrand, or Typhoon or Tempest, the only fighters that I knew of using the Sabre engine.
