LOVE that photo. Both cars are classic and that hasta be my favourite Sox & Martin car ever. However, I just now noticed something; it says "GTX" and has the fake scoops and gas lid of the GTX, but that sure looks like a Belvedere II moulding there along the upper body line... Imagine it woulda made more sense to start with a Belvedere due to cost and such and add the GTX accoutrements for marketing purposes.
That car is actually one of the 55 RO23 cars built by Plymouth for Super Stock class. It was based on the Belvedere II line, and came with bench seat interior and regular Belvedere II trim. They came stripped down with no sound insulation, seam sealer, etc., and wide Hemi hood scoop. They were painted up like GTX to boost recognition and sales of the new Musclecar. An actual GTX was also raced by Sox and Martin in a lower Super Stock class, with a 440 and automatic. Same deal with Dick Landy and R/T.LOVE that photo.
