Yeah, they're torquey! Love my twins
Went on a group ride at bike week years ago in Daytona. Erik told me "don't pass the lead rider". Riiiight. Found out later, it was one of the race team engineers. Pass him? We couldn't even SEE him most of the time - he was
GONE!!! Good thing they went over the route beforehand, so we could find our way back!
Then at the 25th Homecoming, at Road America, there was a "parade lap", led by Erik. "Go slow...don't pass Erik...just one lap, so everyone can see the bikes..."
Yeah.
Erik is an on/off switch when he rides. Idle....or WFO.
It turned into a 5 lap free-for-all. I was on my '95, with my then-wife on the back. A 13 year old motorcycle, with a passenger...and I'm hanging off in turns. One downhill, decreasing-radius right, I'd dropped in, picked my line, started through...and there was a kid on a Blast (500cc) who was just
parked on the apex, going about half the speed I was. I sat up, went wide, dropped down again even
further (putting a peg on the ground HARD and scribing a line through the turn) to keep out of the grass on the decreasing-radius turn, and passed him on the outside. With a passenger. At about 70. ish.
When they came out with the 1125, I was in heaven. Tons of torque down low (over 80 lb-ft!), GOBS of power up top, and revs for days! "Product training" was in 2 places - Pocono raceway in PA (worse surface than Beirut!)....and Vegas International Speedway. Pocono was fun, decently tight...but Vegas was AWESOME. Nothing beats going WFO on an 180mph+ motorcycle on the banks!
