Did not forget, just choosing to do something different as this is not a numbers matching 2 door car. The paint is not the exact B3 blue, but an updated version with more metallic and some pearl. The engine will be painted blue instead of orange because I like the idea of the darker blue engine in a silver blue engine compartment. Changing from a 2bbl to a 4 bbl, etc. So it will not be a perfect car, but it will be perfect for me!!!

Through the kind guidance of some other forum members, I am moving a conversation about the restoration of my 4 door 1969 Dodge Coronet 440 to the correct location! I bought the car 3/14/2016 as I love the body style of 68 and 69. I chose a 4 door because it is far less expensive than a 2 door and I can make good use of a 4 door to carry my retired neighbors to dinner out and no one has to climb behind a forward tilted front seat! In the first few months I had the car, I started looking for an after market A/C unit as I live in southeastern Arizona! In looking for the A/C unit, I found one on Craigslist for half the price of a new unit. I asked the guy who was selling it if he would install it as he had mentioned installing a unit in another car of his. This is how I came to meet my Friend Carl who is a hardcore Mopar Guy. Carl not only installed the A/C unit, but did tune up work, belts and hoses, thermostat, manifold gasket, oil pan gasket, aluminum radiator installation, brakes, all 4 shocks, and front and rear suspension work among many other things. All this was to get the car safe to drive and take care of most of the leaks. I did new front and rear bumpers myself.

The car always had a noise in the engine and it sounded like a lifter tick, so I was cool to drive the car and check in to that later. As time when by, it seemed that the noise in the engine was getting worse. There is a thread on the forum where people were giving suggestions on how to find out what it was or give their opinion on what it might be. The bottom line is that I made the call to invest the money to rebuild the engine and have the car painted while the engine was out. A special thanks to Dave Moore (forum member), owner of Precision Machine Service in Whetstone, AZ who rebuilt the engine for my car. His Mother passed away October 7th, just earlier this week. Dave called me to let me know about the passing and that he was going to do everything possible to finish up my engine before he had to leave for his Mother's funeral as he knew I was ready for it. Dave finished the engine Friday and is now on the east coast with his family for his Mother's service. My condolences and prayers go to Dave and his family at this difficult time.

Yeah, not to be rude but the grille always looks better with the yoke blacked out. Seeing through the grille to a bright, shiny paint just looks wrong.

Hey guys, check out this video from Brian Wilson (forum member) who is restoring his Grandpa's 68 Coronet 4 door. He found a bunch of grandpa's old papers in the glove box.............very cool:

I'm glad the four door cars are getting the love they deserve. It's a shame these cars were cut up for parts cars, demolition derbys, and just plain neglected. I like the idea of putting a small block, big block, modern hemis in these cars. Great work on the corny. It looks beautiful.

Thanks halojumper! My 69 4 door is almost done. We hope to start the engine this week, then it should not be long after that. I will post some pics/video when it happens.

I can see the need for being used as parts cars. But seeing them (and plenty of two doors) in derbys....what a waist. There was a guy in my neighborhood that did derby cars. Drug in a '68 Satellite two door several of us had been trying to buy. I went over and offered to give him his money back, or told him to tell me what he wanted for it. We were leaving for California for a couple weeks the next day to visit my wife's family. Told him I'd have cash in hand when we got back. He said fine. The day we got back he sent his kid over with the headlight bezels and some other small parts. All that was left after he went ahead and put it in the derby.
It is great to see the four doors getting restored.

yes great save here. I bought my current 4 dr to part out. glad I saved it. I have put over 40,000 summer miles on it now. since 2009. it's still almost all original. and drive anywhere! can't wait to see a vid. looks great Blue!

Yeah, that is a pity. What a schmuck for trashing the car after you offered to buy it!!! Even the 4 door has that late 60's badass look to it. I think I am going to be a happy camper. I hope to be driving the car in the next week or so!

I am glad you saved your 4 door too! Yeah, that B3 blue is awesome. The formula I bought was slightly updated for the newer era with a bit more metallic in it, and a bit of pearl. The color really flops from almost silver to more of a B5 blue depending on the lighting.

That is the darker green, right? If so, I LOVE that color. I tried to get my wife to get her 2019 Chally in F8, but she loves the B5 blue............

The B3 green is a great color. I saw it on a '19 Charger, and Challenger at a Dodge dealer near where I live. It really pops in the sun.
