The fuel gauge failed again on the '72 Satellite Sebring Plus. Last time is was the float. This time I have a new/larger pick-up (photo 1) and 3/8" to 5/16" adaptor (photo 2) I am thinking about installing (see photo).

The pickup has provisions for a 1/4" return line which I will need to plug off. But I thought I would ask the forum members why some models had the return line and others did not? Thank you.

P.S. What would you recommend I use for the float, I have both new brass versions and the plastic versions?

Also have 72 Sebring. My 1/4 line to tank is a vapor only. Not a fuel return. Plumbed to top of tank.

I always use brass floats. If possible, hook up the fuel return line to help prevent fuel boiling.

Yup, 440 and Hemi got a 3/8" supply with a 1/4" return. Everything else just got a 5/16" supply with no return.
The vapor line is 5/16" that all 71 and up cars have.

Often bypassed over the years. I had three GTXs in a row that had the line in place, but not connected with an OEM vapor separator. All of them ran way better in summer after being returned to original configuration.
Fred didn't (and still doesn't) have either end hooked up, but the provisions at tank end are still there....
