widest wheel and tire for back

What is the widest tire wheel that will fit in the back wheel well on a 63 dodge?

Not mini tubing or moving springs. Need back spacing and tires size.

Backspacing will be determined by your rear axle.

275/60/15's on a 15x8 steelie fits great in a stock wheelwell.

I used a later Charger rearend housing to eliminate the nutted axle.

4 1/2" backspace was perfect.

My '62 Dart with stock rear fits 15" x 8" 4.5" BS wheel with 275/60 tire just nice.

I was looking through a Jegs Catalog and noticed a 275 X 60 x 15 tire (MS-002) had the widest foot print. I took some measurements on my 64 Plymouth, from fender to leaf spring is 13.1 inches. When choosing a tire worry about the tire width. Just remember tire width and tread width are not the same. A wheel with 4.5 inch back spacing this tire should fit. I haven"t tried it because once I fix something , something else breaks.

I think 275/60R15 on an 8" wheel with 4.5 backspacing is pretty standard for most Mopars.
