How wide is too much and needs to be welded up? What should the minimum/maximum widths is what I'm trying to find out....?
I need the width measurement but I found a set of bearings up in the cabinet.....the width of the bearing is 1.224 and probably go up to 1.226 so 1.230 on the crank is going to be fine. Have one that's 1.233 so that one will work too. Seen them with as much as .050 lolMy motors manual says crankshaft end play should be .002 to .007.
I'd probably worry if it has more than. 015.
Seen them with as much as .050 lol
Thanks.
Edited my post before I saw your response. Looks like 1.226 is a winner.I need the width measurement but I found a set of bearings up in the cabinet.....the width of the bearing is 1.224 and probably go up to 1.226 so 1.230 on the crank is going to be fine. Thanks.
I've heard of that happening. Someone had a super stiff clutch and held his foot down on the pedal at long traffic lights....?? lolI've seen one with a solid .150... The counterweights were rubbing the main webbing...
I could see that..Transbrakes are supposed to be hard on thrust faces too.

First I've heard about that. A TB is supposed to lock the trans in forward and reverse, right? Never have been up on auto transmissions so, I dunno.I could see that..
Heck, my street 71 340 Cuda started making noise when the trans dust/dirt shield got bent some how. It made noise when I left off the gas and didn't make noise on the gas. That's when I learned the flex plate actually flexed lol. The cover was really close to the flex plate though and the bolts were touching it. First time I saw a crank move back and forth was in a drag car with a stick shift in it. It moved a lot!Aftermarket converters not fitting
and converter ballooning.
ever rev an engine and watch the balancer move back and forth? seen it at the drags.
So is starting if you push the clutch in. Think about that thrust face with no oil during startup and all the force of a clutch pushing it forward. It's worse if you have a performance clutch. Start manual cars in neutral with the clutch out!Transbrakes are supposed to be hard on thrust faces too.
That's the way I've always started my cars. What about the new junk? Have to depress the clutch pedal still? Been a long time since I had a stick and never owned one with that 'feature'.So is starting if you push the clutch in. I had a 2007 Mustang California Special and it needed the clutch in to start it. I would bet all new manual transmission cars do too (those few manual transmission cars that still exist!).That's the way I've always started my cars. What about the new junk? It was a standard safety feature by 92,I had a 2007 Mustang California Special and it needed the clutch in to start it. I would bet all new manual transmission cars do too (those few manual transmission cars that still exist!).
