I have an enclosed trailer. I need to pickup a b body that is not running. I have 2 D rings up front, 2 in the rear, all4 in the floor.
Has anyone maybe threw a chair between the 2 front D rings, hooked the winch to the chain, and winched the car up inside?
Does that sound doable?

My winch permanently mounted in front of trailer, but that does seem like it could be possible to do that as long as the car rolls okay. If you're not doing non-rolling or running cars all the time, no need to permanent Mount the winch

Depends on the winch, and how easily the b-body rolls, and how high the trailer floor is.
Strong enough winch, strong enough chain (chair?) Id give it a shot, if the tires aren't flat and the brakes aren't stuck.

Yup, done that with a 3k winch. If the car doesn't roll very good or has flats, double block the cable.

100 feet of good rope, "fold" it in half and put the open ends through each front hook. Tie the center to the K frame with the trailer backed up to the car and tie the open ends to a tree or other vehicle behind the dead car. Drive the pull vehicle and trailer forward and it will draw the car into the trailer.

Don't forget the two way radio or phones!

Winch bolts in with 4 3/8" bolts. D rings have 8 bolts at least 5/16". So the bolts are plenty stong. The D rings are designed to hold the car even in an accident so I would say it would work fine. As stated if the winch won't pull it up double the cable back to the winch with a small pulley. It'll double the pull power. A 3000 pound in my trailer pulls my 64 in easily.

It will work. I have used the cheap Harbor Freight 2,000 lb marine wench and it worked, but is very slow, and pretty much at its limit pulling the car up the ramp.

Thanks everyone
These days I've been using my box trailer as a storage unit and it's been awhile since using my winch....yup, it's still in the trailer chained to the D rings.

Should be fine. Just watch the D-ring floor areas real close as you’re loading. Now would be the time to invest in a winch mounted in the trailer.

Appreciate the reply, no need for a permanent mounted winch as this is last “project” for me :)
