Makes you wonder what the factory used ?--you know they just installed it and it worked--I took a piece back to Joe Suchy and there is a definite difference in the thickness--scared to buy some more unless I can be sure it fits---Mike
Mine is from Restoration Specialties, five years old now,fit perfect and doors close as they should. They are only 20 miles from me,went and looked at it ,took it home with me.Probably better pricing than anyone else.
My doors gotta be slammed, but I also have new door bumpers and quarter seals. I dont like having to close them so hard but they should get softer over time and I suppose some armorall would help some. Basically it boils down to having all new rubber that might be thicker than what was used 45+ years ago.
I bought from Metro Molded for my '63 Fury. After I installed them I can't get the doors past the second latch so they are always partially open. My cousin, long time body man, says that I can use a hammer to adjust the pinch weld in for better fit. I will also have to adjust the door. It seems nothing fits these days without some "adjustment".
Well I bought mine at SMS in Oregon and never again!!!! I get mine home and find out there two feet short on each side...WTF? I call them and just got the run around as usual with these people! Sorry for the rant but I dont wantto see anyone else get SCREWED!
My doors worked fine even after installing it. But I got mine with the car as my buddy had bought it. I will try to get a hold of him and find out where he got it. Ron
