Can anyone tell me about the wiper motor on my 66 Satellite. The part number is 2580915. Since it doesn't work I'd like to know if it's a 2 speed, 3 speed etc. Is it the correct motor for the car, if not what is the correct wiper motor part number. I'd like to either buy a rebuilt motor or have this one rebuilt if it's the correct part. Also how tough is it to remove and replace the motor, can it all be done from the engine bay or do you need to go under the dash or remove the dash. I've also heard rumors that there are plastic washers and other parts that are easily broken and not available, is that true?

Thanks in advance for your help.

My parts book list the part number as 2808801. Should be 2 speed.

Try Kim at Passion4Mopars. I am sure she will know what you have and what you need. She also does an excellent job of restoring wiper motors. I think she is a member here as well.

Mine was frozen up, but if you take it apart and clean and grease it it will come back to life. When you reassemble it, lock the brushes out of the way by pushing them in and locking them "open" by sticking the braided wire in the slot in the back of the brush assembly. then insert the rotor and release the brushes. Grease all the bearings, and fill your gearbox with a good spray lube before reassembly.

Gold gear lube in the housing is what I use and I put a very small amount in the brush cap as well to lubricate the bearing that the armature rides in. Brush Gear Lube the shaft of the gear, the top of the gear and the gear latch enough to lubricate them. Make sure you get the timing on the switch plate correct when reassembling or you'll have problems with park position. Since you have the switch plate off at that point, clean the contacts on the reverse of the switch plate also...burned or dirty contact points will hinder park also.

If you have problems, contact me and I'll try to assist or repair the motor for you
