I've removed my wiper motor to clean it up and do a little refurbishing. Over the years it's been painted flat black. I want to take it back to at least appearing factory original. There's a few different ways I can remove the old paint. Stripper, sand paper, wire brush, etc.

What would you guys do? To me best case scenario, I use a chemical stripper, the paint falls off, and all the original finish is there. Though I think that's a little optimistic.

Also, since i'm assuming the original finishes will all need to be redone. What color were the individual pieces on a '67 Satellite?

Any pictures or tips would be much appreciated.

Thanks guys!

send it too Kim and get the job done right.....1st time..

Thanks for the link, definitely learned something. It seems as though i have a "Leece Neville" manufactured piece. Which is supposed to be half black.

I'd love to buy one from him, but its a couple hundred dollars over my budget for a wiper motor.

I threw mine in my little booth blaster...Worked like a charm. Replaces the wiring, cleaned up the internals, painted the aluminum cast with cast blast, Used Permatex to duplicate the orange sealant on the face, then used Eastwood's Carb Renew II, to try and duplicate the motor case.

Propwash that's a B body motor although it's "clocked" for an E body currently, probably won't park in the correct position once reinstalled...but it looks like it was not clocked properly from the beginning stages. Rotate the switch plate nib (at approximately 10 oclock), to the position below the "C" or horseshoe shaped timing position and you'll have it timed/clocked correctly for a B Body )

Wow.....Great to know. I appreciate it very much! I was just going off of what it was like when I pulled it, but the car was a total cobble job when I picked it up, so who knows... Thanks for taking the time to indicate that and modify the pic.

You are most welcome. I've cruised the ole hard drive and scanned the page from the FSM so maybe it's a little easier to understand than my quicky edit on your original photo

Thanks '69Net that one was kind of a "gimme" it was the first thing I noticed on Prop's photo of his motor but it helps to back it up with some useful info in case it's needed in the future

Now THERE'S a thought, but then you'd catch the "it's the wrong part number" for the car routine and then you'd have to change the bulkhead connector and shorten it and blah blah blah right? But hey, you could grab that E body and we'll go from there, it's a win win

Very interesting, that turned out nice. I may try to do that with the old motor I picked up to use as a core. It looks about as bad as yours did to start with. If it doesn't work or there's broken parts inside I'm not out much but time.

Thanks Bob....I know passion4mopars does a great job (seen their work first hand), but I like to do as much as possible myself. I do appreciate all the support thus far from them, great stuff!

Like you said, all you're out is time if it doesn't work and the work isn't that hard. Out of the realm of some folks, but that's why passion4mopars do what they do. Heck I would be wondering why my wipers only covered 85% of the area they're supposed to if it wasn't for them.

Hope it goes well for ya Bob..Should be a piece of cake for you after dealing with the mess in your jams.

Agreed, I'll add a 71' cuda convertible to my "to do" list. Or maybe I should call it "dream sheet"..."bucket list" or "I have to win the lottery because..list"

It helps that I've fixed a wiper motor before. AFAICT someone had put the arms on wrong and they parked off the glass then out of that somehow the park switch got wrapped up around itself. A heckuva mess but an easy fix once someone (Jules) explained it to me like passion4mopars did in here. It's always great when those in the know share their knowledge.

FWIW I've still got one jamb out. Complications due to an old patch and new rust on the quarter stopped me in my tracks. Another case of I'll figure out what to do myself before I'll let the car out of my sight. Plenty of other stuff to work on though.
