While I was putting my headers on my '67 Coronet yesterday I noticed the transmission lever had a wire on it that held it at about the mid position of it's travel. I'm guessing it's the kickdown lever. Will it hurt to drive it like this until I get it corrected? :eusa_doh:

Yes. Need to fix it . You will need to find a good picture of it so you can make sure it's got everything where it's supposed to be. To adjust, hold the throttle all the way open. Lever on trans should be all the way back. You can fine tune it from there.

I've got the FSM but finding used parts are difficult. New ones are expensive. Maybe a lokar kickdown kit would be the way to go.

The Lokar kickdown cable kit will work fine if you don't care about the kickdown looking stock. Just follow the instructions that come with the cable. Easy way to do it.

I don't care so much about looking stock, as long as it works lol. It has the Edelbrock peformer on it now. Do I need the Edelbrock bracket 1481 for the carb along with the lokar bracket or just the lokar braket?

If I remember correctly, the bracket that comes with the Lokar cable is all you need.
