Mopars sad attempt to keep a good thing going. ill admit its in good shape but i wouldnt give ya more than 500.00 for it. put a few cute little birds on it and call it a road runner?....pathetic!
I've been watching that car for a couple of months now since I thought it would make an excellent Steelers "away" car with that color scheme and would contrast nicely with the "home" scheme I have on the 74. I've been looking for a nice Volare roadrunner but they aren't cheap these days. They're actually selling for more than some 71-74 cars.
The only thing I dislike about this one is it's missing the spoilers.
A car that year, in that shape, and that low of mileage is incredible find.
You couldn't rebuild one for that much.
Those old enough to remember, the gas crisis was on full swing, and the Feds were cracking down on emissions. Tough times for all the auto makers to sell a car with price of gas.
It's not a 68-71 RR with 440 6 pack, but those car were being traded in for cheap 4 bangers because no one could afford to drive them
That's the last car you ever want to restore since there are no parts for it. The Aspen seats I have in my roadrunner came from a 77 Aspen RT projct car that sat for almost a year because the owner couldn't get the parts to work on ie since nobody saved many of them.
I got my driver's license in 1976, and I wanted one of the orange and black roadrunners because those were the cool Plymouths at the time, so I guess I'll always like these cars. Problem is there are probably twice as many 68-70 roadrunners still on the road than 76-80 cars, so the prices have been pretty high. Most vanilla Volares I've seen over the past year or so have been priced at $3,500 or so.
