6t4polara, my appologies for the thread getting so far off topic.
"...If your crying a out the cost of a welding class that gives you the tools to make. Save and create money, the. You shod turn in your wrenchs. Your worried about costs????
OMG! Wheel your tool box on over. You have no need for it.
There's gotta be someone talented in Md. that can do this for you. "
rumblefish,
Wow. Good thing I have thick skin. I simply asked where an intake could be custom made so inexpensively, then provided my reasonings (accumulated costs) for buying vs building an intake when you suggested building one DIY style.
It all boils down to what someone is willing to pay and what they want things to look like when done. I Looked 8 months to find one (cast 4bbl intake on my Poly) for what I was willing to pay. I wanted something that would provide low/ mid end power since my car is driven on the street and looked like it came with the car. I doubt a fabricated intake would have been able to be built for the same cost ($280 including shipping), nor would it have fit under my hood. Cast'd manifolds also have attaching points for original components (throttle/ kickdown linkage, coil, A/C brackets, etc.). I know, Lokar makes cable setups, but that just adds to the costs...remember, our conversation was about keeping them down.
As for my tools and their use? Below is the latest work I've done with them. I know I'm biased, but I kinda like the results. I think I'll keep using my tools(including both welders), even if someone else could make better use of them...though for me it is just for enjoyment, not to make money.
Start with a piece of 'coal'
Turn it into a 'diamond'
Tools actually being used
I started with this
and ended with this
Now, maybe we should let 6t4polara get back to selling parts.
