Hi guys, I have been a member here for a while and i'm looking for a bit of help. I am looking at a 71 Charger 500. 318 auto, decent shape but one fender is rusted through at the front. I can't find replacement fenders online so I'm thinking they're pricey. The car runs good and has a bench seat interior in good condition. The rest of the body looks really decent. It runs and drives nice but I know it will need a resto at some point. Can anybody tell me an opinion of what I should pay for a car like this?

Fenders are hard to find as you suspected. It depends on your attachment to this model and your willingness to travel to find another. Your plans/expectations also matter. Generally I have found usually better to pay a little more for less rust but that comes from my skill set being more mechanical. Without pics, very hard to say but, $2k as a bottom maybe 5k if the fender is the only issue and there is paint. If it has the 500 door panels, Taillights and rally dash etc maybe more.

it sounds like a 2-3k car to me
pics would get you a better answer

71-74 Chargers are pretty common in the states, but I doubt they are in BC, so you might have to pay a premium. On the plus side, 318 bench cars are not a very hot item, so I would say $1,500 to $2,000 down here and maybe double that up there.

As for parts, again, these are common cars and parts are pretty available but they come in spurts. You might look for a fender for three months and not find a single one for sale, then a week later they are everywhere. Just be patient and you'll find your fender at the right price.

I sold a fy1 318 auto bucket car for $5000 running and driving

Thanks for the input guys. I don't have any pics. His asking price is $8500. I don't like to lowball guys so I might just keep looking. I have always been into E-bodies...I can't believe how much less a '71 Charger is worth compared to a Challenger.
