Wondering how bad this front is going to be....

Tomorrow night is going to be ROUGH in south Louisiana, and all of that rain is coming after 24 hours of winds from the Southeast blowing water inshore...

They have been yelling that the sky is falling here for the last 3 days. If they guessed right we should see the worst of it around noon tomorrow. Saying the same about 70 mph winds and high tornado risk.

Anybody here besides me ever taken the NWS "weather spotter" courses? I've always found weather
mildly fascinating.
I recommend them to anyone interested in the weather. They don't cost anything and are quite
interesting.
I'm fairly decent at forecasting and I have a friend who is an actual meteorologist up
in DC who likes ribbing me and giving me pointers.
Guess that all started from seeing a tornado in real life as a kid.

Oh, to answer the original question - this one has a ton of energy in it and is multiplying that.
Afraid there's going to be some traumatic stuff come from it...

Yep it's a bit hairy out there right now. Lots of small tornadoes all over the place and have experienced some winds around 50 60 miles an hour. Two of my three prairie dogs are even awake lol. Things finally seem to be starting to settle down now and that only happened in the last minute or so.

Looks like it's finally moved on through. Still have a little bit of thunder and lightning but the wind has died down a lot. Guess I'll be looking around the yard house and shop when I get up to make sure everything's okay.

Stay safe guys.

I cannot imagine how bad it is ...given that I was just outside BBQ'ing some thick Rib-eye's and sausages for dinner. The smoke gently wafted across my icy cold Heineken...and my bare feet were nicely warmed by my smooth concrete driveway.
:D

Been in the low 70's for the last couple of days which is about 20 degrees above normal. So far no deaths have been reported but 3 have been in NW Louisianna. One death due to a pretty large pine tree falling on a house. As it is, one report in Houston of a pretty large pine tree falling on a house but no one was injured. I guess people don't know about how dangerous stand alone pine trees are in the wind.

Headed North
View attachment 893440 hope it's not as bad as it was in 98
Seems that bad weather is all over much of the nation lately. The front that went through here is a long ways from being done it seems.

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Looks like it's going to be pretty bad here. The direction of the rain is SSW to NNE so that makes the effect of the front "wider" than it looks.

We had heavy rain and thunderstorms last night, now we have freezing rain with snow starting soon. Oklahoma weather

Local news is showing more trees down. Seems many of them are finding their landing spots on houses and cars but so far, no mention of injuries or deaths....at least not in the Houston area. I have some debris from trees and a couple of areas where the vinyl soffit needs repairing but that's been sort of a problem since Ike hit. All in all, things are mostly ok. Got a bit scary when the weather radar was showing tornadoes moving in this direction and five minutes later, the wind picked up pretty good along with a pretty hard rain.

Hope all made it thru the storm OK.
I hope no one ever sees the death and destruction of an EF5 tornado, everything else is pale by comparison.

In St. Louis we got so much rain my feet are webbed.....

These weather experts (sarcasm) crack me up here in Tulsa. They are covering the weather like it's the great blizzard of 2020

Don't rub it in.

Not nearly as bad as they thought.... wind was whipping but didn’t lose any trees this time. Which means, no fences down and no cows out thankfully. Pretty good bit of water on the ground but other than that all good. Much better than the storms a couple/three weeks ago.

I know it's going to be a good one. The wind here is at least 25-30 and gusting to 40 at times and from the SE and the front is still NW of here. It's sucking in a LOT of moisture, that's for sure. Humidity inside my shop 83%. The weather guessers say it's going to be worst on the north side of I-10 and I'm at least 10 miles from that so maybe I'll luck out...again. For some reason, I-10 seems to be some kind of a border but my guess is all the heat from the industry along the ship channel has more to do with that :D
How did you make out? Had gust's when it first hit 60mph+. Got called in early this morning to the hospital for this....

My sister lives in Dallas and it was 70* yesterday and snow on the ground today. Crazy weather everywhere - I think it dropped below 70* here in SoCal even ....

Front has passed.
All good here.
This time of year it takes 7-10 days for our high clay content ground to dry out.
