WORLD RECORD - 1987 Buick GNX Sale - BARRETT-JACKSON LAS VEGAS

She's not a REAL guido. She's not even Italian, she's from Chile. I do know Vinnie from that stupid Jersey Shore show. He's my wife's 2nd cousin from Staten Island.

the annual Our Lady of Mt Carmel carnival is in Hammonton this week..... I stopped in today for a couple roast pork sandwiches.... that place is Guido central!

Remember Seaside Heights in the 80's. IROCS, Trans Ams and 5.0's for miles. The girls were AMAZING!!! Big hair and bikinis. LOL

Meanwhile over in Mopar world, those of us who had little Shelby critters actively stalked those Buicks...
we were already bored with Corvettes and such. :)
I owned a Shelby Daytona 2.2 turbo. Biggest POS ever!!! Nothing produced in the 80's could touch a Buick GN.

Very true. Mid 13s out of the box. Turbo and intercooler upgrades quickly followed. Then in 11s. (10s sec if you can get a tire to hook)

I thought maybe the ZR1 Vette was faster..... Didn't they put that GNX motor in the 89 trans am. Thought they had a limited run of them??

A very goods friend of mine has a Turbo T type . And he has owned for years. Sorry Not sure what year it is , but I want to say its an 86 or 87 maybe.
Deep down I dont think the car has 25k miles on it .

The car is stupid fast , stock block and heads but some turbo and intercooler upgrades ,,,,,,,and it will give his hemi cuda a run for its money

Last i talked to him he was thinking of selling. The car is NICE and has been garaged kept since new

I thought about it, but I simply dont have room for another old car in the garage

My first new car was an 83 Mustang GT 5.0 5 speed. I bought it newish in spring of 85. Grey and black no A/C or T tops. Car was unbearable to drive on a 90 degree day. Add headers, intake, better Holley, and some head work it ran pretty well

I understand that the GN was fast in its day but sorry, I always thought they looked like a shoebox with wheels... But it was the 80's and everything for the most part sucked.

Crank up the boost, add an intercooler (if you didn't have a model that came with one)
and have at it with the little Dodges.
'Course, they found out in a hurry that their own fwd transmissions couldn't hack it
and went with the Getrag after a bit, too.
Mine threw the final drive right out of the case at 50k miles finally in '88 - but before
then, the 1000 pound weight difference meant you could dance with the Buicks once
you figured out some traction (which we did).

The 5.0's became "real" in '89 once Ford adopted MAF-based electronics and that whole
era of Fox-body madness ensued...
I bought a new '89 LX Sport (hated the GT "gingerbread" tacked on appearance crap) 5.0
which had all the GT stuff on it except for the hideous appearance stuff.
I test-drove both an IROC and a Formula Firebird (350, please) but they had terrible
quality control issues with both and I remember just how much they rattled and squeaked
brand new.
The Mustang was tight, no rattles - but finding a manual trans one was tough for a while.

Buick’s were big in the 80s, period. It wasn’t just the Grand Nationals, it was the whole 70 Stage 1 car craze. Maybe I’m not looking closely enough, but from my viewpoint, you hear a lot less press on the early GS cars than in the 80/90s.
