I have a set of Competition Engineering front shocks that look like they have been on the car for quite a while, took them off, they seem pretty stiff asthey should be with no weird movements, these are the 90/10 80/20 etc...adjustables.
Just wondering if there are any special tests to determine whether they should be replaced, other than a test drive.
As I am replacing seriously worn tie rod ends (1/2 to 3/4" play on both sides) I thought I would do the shocks at the same time if they need replacement.

In my experience, dead shocks will collapse and not remain extended. Oil leakage is usually, but not always, apparent.

90/10's 80/20's.Easy test on the 90/10 setting is they will extend with very little force(10%).Pushing the stem in should be much harder (90%) to collapse.Like said above check for fluid leaks. If dry you should be good to go.Not the best shock if you are planning to return the Dodge to the streets.

No fluid leaks at all, extends easily, collapse is difficult, cannot hear or feel the 3 clicks on full collapse for settings as one should.

Truth be told I had a set of 90/10 80/20 70/30 's. I too had a hard time with the settings.
