I have a BB 71 Roadrunner with 727 and a 8 3/4 rear and need a driveshaft. looking at the parts interchange it needs to be around 50.6 to 50.8 center to center on the u joints. I can use a 7260 to 7290 U Joint so I am not dead set on a 7290 set up but it does need the 727 yoke or a price that compensates for buying a new one.

Thanks in advance Paul

I am interested just not sure what size drive shaft I realy need the interchange manual is really confusing. Let me do a little more research and get back with you do you knwo what car it came out of engine trans rearend?

Thanks

50.68 length center ujoint to center ujoint. 3.25 diameter.

Just looked it up again and you are exactly correct looks like PN 2996 101 for the 340, 383, 440 and the 426 with the 8 3/4 rear end using the 7290's so 51.5 is about an inch to long. Ugg is this not a common drive shaft?

The one you have might work.its just a hair over 3/4 inch too long.Theres a lot of travel on the slip yoke.If your springs are striff it may not be an issue. Before I bought new i,d check where on the yoke the seal rides if theres an extra 3/4 maybe shorten the yoke that much. That may be a replaced shaft and thats what they measured. If you put it in and can pull the shaft out of the diff yoke into the trans an inch you should be good.

Would love to do that but I don't have a drive shaft at all.

Weiand hi-ram tunnel ram w/2 Holley 550's. 1969 440 totally rebuilt not bored over with Weiand aluminum valve covers. Any interest in some or all holler at me. THANKS
