Okay - So I've yet to have the pleasure of riding in a 70's model Mopar with 17-inch tires and rims to know how it feels versus the good ole 15-inch tires and rims.

How is the "road feel" in the steering wheel? More due to the lower profile tires?

What percentage is the handling improvement superior over the 15-inchers?

Any reasons why you would go back to 15-inches from 17?

I'm looking for mental justification to purchase a set of 17-inch tires and rims when I have perfectly fine set of 15-inchers.

Thanks for the input!

Based on your last sentence, I see no justification whatsoever.

X2....I've never had a ride in a old car with 17's but in newer cars it causes a little stiffer ride because the sidewalls are not as tall. Unless you plan to autocross I see no need for this.

I'm more like 5! :D My daughter's car (PT Cruiser GT) has 17's and it rides pretty harsh but handles like a cat. Don't think I would care for that on my 66 Belvedere unless I was interested in hard cornering. The shorter the side wall, the better the cornering but your brain will feel every little crack, bump and stone you run over.

The only thing that I don't like with the wider 17" tires is the car's tendency to follow the grooves/ruts in the pavement. Out here they have not quite figured out how to lay down a road surface that will last more than one winter so every spring they fill in the troughs left in the road with asphalt. This may be more of a problem than the 17" tires. Other than that they are great.

17's are going to ride harsher, and cost MUCH more. More prone to flats too, I believe. Don't switch. Keep the 15's.
