So I'm doing my commute-home-from-work last night, I have about a 25-minute highway drive. I see a Pontiac Torrent GXP, I used to own that model. It stood out for me because it's the rare performance model with the 3.6L 264 hp and dual exhaust, not the much more common regular Torrents with a 3.4L that only outputs 185 hp. He's in the middle lane as I approach him on the left lane and look over to see what cool person is driving a GXP. An Indian or Middle Eastern fella, buddy has his head pointing down to ogle his damn cellphone. Honest-to-God, he's only looking up about 25% of the time. He keeps this up for a few minutes and I get annoyed, so I tap my horn. His head shoots up to look forward, then a second later, goes right back down to his cellphone. He didn't even glance over at me.

I pull ahead, wanting to put some distance between this moron and myself, he falls behind and I lose sight of him in the traffic.

Closer to home now at a red light in my residential area, he catches up and ends up behind me at the stop light. We get a left turn green signal and I make my turn. Not surprisingly, the moron is STILL obsessed with his phone and doesn't follow suit, he just sits there for several seconds.

This, on Halloween evening with kids scurrying house-to-house, trick-or-treating. It infuriates me.

The best part? He ends up making a left into a neighborhood near mine, he probably lives less than 5 blocks away! I'll be on the lookout for this moron, Torrent GXP's are few and far between and instantly recognizable if you know what to look for. I may leave a 'polite' note on his windshield if I spot where he parks it.

Isn't cell phone use while driving illegal in Canada? (It OUGHT to be a felony!)
Couldn't you report him to the PD, via 911?
(Does Canada use 911, or 999?)

Do you think a note on his windshield will change his behavior? Are willing to waste one more second of your precious time on this guy?

This is my commute....down to the very last detail...every single day here in Tacoma....

Thankfully, my van is so much bigger than most everything else on the road, they can't not see me even when they're on their phones...

Yes, he should have been reported to 911. As to why the OP didn’t report it is beyond me. He could save a life or three by reporting it. Kim

This is the primary reason I despise Cell Phones and those that are continually with heads down on them. Everywhere one goes these days, clowns are using them at every turn. I will not be tethered to one after so many years due to my employment with the USAF having to do so or a pager!!!! Get off your damn phone!!! Pay attention as you drive, walk, or even shop in a store. You can easily write a shopping list on paper instead of using your phone for just such a need. I do own one which I am forced to have to use for a few things but for the most part, it is merely for traveling only to get directions or an emergency. Sits mainly on my desk at home. I can get a hell of a lot more work down on my desktop computer than all those who continually rely upon a damn cell phone!!! Rant Off!!! cr8crshr/Bill:usflag::usflag::usflag:

Cops won't do anything about a 911 call to report distracted driving. You seriously think they'll drop everything and find a distracted driver, especially in Canada where brown skin means a "get out of jail free" card? Kim, you live here, you should know this.

In Michigan, the distracted driving law got stricter last summer. What a joke! It's well known throughout the law enforcement community that this is a ridiculous law, and they certainly don't have time to enforce it - until tragedy strikes. It's going to have to be up to the auto manufacturers to tackle this critical issue - and I know they've been tossing around ideas for years.

What a great way NOT to sell a car! Tell a customer his phone won't work in it while the engine is running.

I think at least Stellantis, or whatever they are called this month, is having no issues NOT selling vehicles.

They are too busy trying to sell Citroëns, Puegoets,(spelling) alfas, and fiats to care about a bunch of American cars.
Besides, they know better than us what we want to buy!

The best way would be take phone away for 24 hours and they have to go to police station to pickup
It would be better than any fine and less paper work just give them a claim card

While I agree with this guy being an A**hole, these days you could get shot following someone home. I see this all the time at a red light, if everyone takes 10 seconds to wake up and pull away, few would get through the light. That's as bad as a women, smoking, drinking and reaching behind her to correct her kids all in one swift move. We've seen it all, and which should be allowed and which shouldn't. I've been hit and all is well, just fix my car the way it was the second before you hit me. I will find out if you were on the phone when you hit me and if you were, YOU"RE MINE. I will spend any amount of money to make an example out of you and make you wish your father had wore a condom on the night you were conceived. Hands frees only, is the best you can hope for in this jacked up, ever changing, rude world we live in. Where is the line between common sense and a new law someone will find a loophole to get around. Leave the car manufactures alone. Cars are already expensive enough with all that crap on them to help drive them for us. We also print, do not put this bag, that came on your new toaster, over your head, it could cause death, for those same people. Common sense has left the building.

You could never follow me home, if you make more than a few turns following me, I'd never turn into my development to go home, force of habit. You knowing where I live and me not knowing where you live makes me nervous and is not allowed. As right as you are in trying to correct someone, again, I agree with you. You pulling in to my driveway and me not knowing you, could get you killed........... That's the screwed up world we live in, right and possibly dead right.

I have a 'hang up and drive' bumper sticker on my old diesel pickup and one day I come up beside this woman that was looking down and for quite awhile so after leaning on the horn (which scared her pretty good), I moved on up and got in front of her.

I retired, and reduced my exposure from 100,000 miles a year to 5000, after the second time my rig got rear ended by one of these clowns. In a car, it's too easy to get your neck broken. I watch my rear view mirror when I'm stopped at an intersection. Cops took the first one away, no insurance, told me he'd lose his license, but company would never see a dime. The next one didn't even have a license. I got the vehicles off the highway, and skipped the paperwork.
